Stopped here for a late night bite around 11pm since most restaurants are closed by then in Downtown Burbank. The decor gave me Cheesecake Factory vibes and the quality of food was about the same: consistently okay and satisfies everyone’s cravings with a large menu, but not a place I’d take someone to impress them. It’s slightly above mediocre. Our server was very cheery and our food came out quickly, with quite large portions. Not sure I’ll personally stop by again since there’s nothing special about their meals, but I see the appeal for families and large groups. It’s affordable and has a decent atmosphere, but don’t expect to have the best Chinese food of your life.
A very typical menu for that kind of restaurant, although you could immediately notice that prices were a bit higher than those of similar restaurants in the area. The portions we received were bigger than competitor’s in the are but…unfortunately, the quality was just average. Fish on top of rolls seemed not fresh. Not bad, just not fresh. Eel on the top of the roll (baked) was simply cold. The other dishes didn’t impress either. I wouldn’t return, honestly, although the service was excellent and I liked the ambience.
For the main course, we ordered a variety of dishes including orange chicken, young chow fried rice, broccoli beef, pad Thai, and sweet and sour pork. Each dish was impressive in both taste and presentation. The orange chicken was crispy with a tangy glaze, and the fried rice was loaded with perfectly cooked vegetables and meat. The broccoli beef was tender and savory, while the pad Thai had a rich, authentic flavor. The sweet and sour pork was a standout, with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity.
Overall, Wacano exceeded our expectations with their delicious food and wide variety of options. Everything we tried was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were bold and satisfying. It’s clear that attention to quality and detail is a top priority here. We’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu.
