While passing through Redlands, my wife and I decided to stop by Wok-In Café since she had tried it before and was open to coming back.

When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, so we were able to sit anywhere. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Beef, and the food did take some time to come out—which usually signals that it’s made fresh, and that part was appreciated.

Unfortunately, the overall experience was mixed due to the atmosphere. The kids sitting at the table next to us appeared to be the owner’s children, and they were very loud and running around the dining area. There didn’t seem to be much effort to keep things under control, and it made the environment feel unprofessional. At times, it honestly felt more like being at Chuck E. Cheese than a sit-down restaurant, which took away from enjoying the meal.

The service itself was okay, nothing terrible, but the lack of attention to the disruptive noise was disappointing.

Final Thoughts:
The food was decent and seemed freshly prepared, but the noisy environment—especially with the owner’s kids running around—really impacted our visit. Because of that, I’m not sure we would come back again.

This Chinese family run restaurant seems like just a little hole in the wall restaurant from outside but it’s quaint n’ cozy inside. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. I love the iced flavored teas and the Chop Suey is the best I’ve ever had, made with fresh vegies and soft succulent shrimp. YuM !

Food was delicious and I came at a quiet time so I was able to hear the beautiful music.
Got one order each of curry chicken, egg rolls, and rose milk tea. Was able to feed two people with one serving of each food.
Curry chicken came with steamed rice and had a delicious spice but not overwhelming.
Egg rolls how you would expect, crispy outside.
The rose boba milk tea was Delicious! Very strong beautiful rose flavor!
Place was beautiful with gorgeous pictures as well.

We had the eggrolls, Mapo Tofu, and the Orange Chicken. Everything was delicious, and fast.

Start with the positive. Service was nice, felt like a happy family owned place.

The Delicious:
Rice was perfect, just like mom would make it.
Mongolian Beef spicy, wasn’t really spicy, but had great flavor and texture, especially the zucchini.
Egg flower soup was well balanced, a great portion for the price and hot (temperature wise)

The super disappointing:
Honey walnut chicken- powdery and not crispy also barely any sauce, mostly poorly dressed.
Chow mein was flavorless. I had to add some sauce I had in the fridge just to get some satisfaction.
Steamed Dumplings were not like pictured but more like gyoza, really wet like not steam wet but like boiled? Not sure what happened there, but definitely not dumpling I expect. The flavor of the inside wasn’t bad once your dipped it in a bunch of sauce.

Total cost before tip after tax $61

Maybe it was a bad day for the cook. Food presentation was severely lacking. Food color was off. No veggies in fried noodles dish. Chicken in noodles looked like it was cut with a meat cleaver small chunks , large chunks. No obvious care on how it looks. Taste was okay if you got pass the Grey color of noodles. Owners seem nice but little was said. No white rice was available only fried rice with no egg or vegetables was presented. Plates were random and didn’t match. It was an off experience. I think they can make some small changes and make the experience so much better. First time I’ve been there not sure if I’ll give a second.

Every time I come here I remember why it’s my favorite restaurant in Redlands. The lemon chicken and lo mein are incredible and the drinks are very well made and sweet.

I haven’t found a single thing on the menu. I didn’t absolutely love.

It was OK. Saturday afternoon and still got the lunch special, Kung Pao Shrimp, but it tasted off. It was like the shrimp still had a corn starch coating. Hot and sour soup was OK, the meal came with salad and egg roll. All were home made. The menu states, “No MSG,” was it missing that? Porcelain dishes and tea kettle, the presentation was impressive. All for $14.99.

Your run-of-the-mill American Chinese restaurant with both classic take out and dine in options. I got the lunch special and it was quite a good deal! Comes with soup, rice, and small appetizer. Interesting that the food came in a cardboard box but hey it’s more eco friendly!

Best noodles in town, the crab rangoon and veggie roll combo is truly a comfort treat for me now! Lovely vibe as well, definitely worth a try 🙂
