Service is always excellent here! Food is always how you want it cooked and very good! The atmosphere is very relaxing. We have been here a couple of times. This time I tried the 24oz Porterhouse “The Oscar” with the mushroom medley. Excellent! She had the Risotto as she always does and loves it. 5 star service with 2 Big Thumbs up!

Wissota Chophouse is a little fancier than I usually go for, but it might be just right for you. The staff was great super friendly, and even the manager came over to chat for a bit. The place has a really nice upscale vibe. The outdoor seating has fire pits and heaters, and inside there’s a gorgeous bar setup.
We had drinks, fried alligator bites, and truffle fries. The drinks were amazing, and the food was good, though it could use a little fine-tuning. Overall, a nice spot if you’re looking for something a bit more upscale.

Service was great! The food was also delicious. We had the Bavarian pretzel for an appetizer. It’s huge and great! We also had the crab cakes which were perfect and came with a cold corn mix. The seasonal dessert pumpkin creme brûlée was delicious and was so cute! My only issue was the truffle fries. I was expecting a garlic parmesan truffle but they were more like seasoned fries cooked in truffle oil: they were good just not what I was expecting in my own mind! They did say they would update the description as there was no description on this menu item. The old fashions were smooth. Overall good experience!

We were staying at the hotel and ended up coming to Wissota Chophouse almost every single day because it was that good. I was traveling with my two-year-old, and the entire staff could not have been kinder or more accommodating. They immediately brought her crayons and a coloring page every visit, and made us feel so welcome — which any parent knows is priceless when you’re on the road.
Their daily happy hour from 4–6 is truly unmatched: half-off wine and drafts (yes please!), and the vibes are relaxed and friendly. My daughter and I were both completely obsessed with the truffle fries and the bread and butter — honestly some of the best we’ve had anywhere. Everything we tried was delicious, fresh, and felt like such a treat without being stuffy.
A special shoutout to the manager, who is incredibly sweet and made sure every visit felt personal. Between the food, the service, and how family-friendly it is, this spot became the highlight of our stay.
If you’re in Ottumwa- especially if you’re staying at the hotel- you have to go. And definitely go during happy hour. You’ll want to come back every day too!

I suggest a reservation if there is a big event going on at the Bridge View Center. We ended up ordering take out. We ordered the Wagu burger with blue cheese and bacon, it came with truffle fries. Overall, one of the best burgers I have had. And the fries were amazing. Definitely worth the price.

Nothing spectacular food-wise. The service at the bar was mediocre at best — the bartender was short, not talkative, and not friendly at all. When I got up to leave and reached the parking lot, I realized I’d left my bottle of wine (that I had paid for). I called right away to come back and get it, only to be told they had already cleared it!
On top of that, most restaurants at least offer a bag for your bottle when you purchase wine to take home — poor staff training there as well. It seems customer service is a thing of the past.
This was my fourth visit, and each time has been more disappointing than the last. As a local, I’m not sure I’ll be back again.

The staff in Ottumwa are wonderful and charming. They really listen and make you feel at home. Happy hour has great prices, just get there early the bar area fills up quick! The food is amazing and they have great weekly features. Really love the fried pickles and onion rings…when they have them!!! Overall this place is awesome for a great happy hour with frinds or dinner date.
