Social Profile:

The Burton’s expanded several times and became a huge success for many years in Corvallis. After their retirement on January 22, 2006, it was up in the air what should become of the historical site. The restaurant was split into three separate parts creating three separate businesses. The Solstice Cafe, GK1, and alas WiseCracks Cafe. After trying to fill the space with another retail occupancy, the city’s response changed the new owners mind. Several people begged him to maintain the spot as a restaurant, which was much more challenging. The Dale’s noticed the spot in March of 2006. They looked at it and saw huge potential for their dream to come true. The papers were signed and they began creating a new restaurant staple in Corvallis.

Casual eatery with free WiFi & a children’s playground serving cocktails & all-day breakfast.

From start to finish our experience was perfection. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My husband ordered the Spanish omelette and I ordered the big bad wet burrito with a fruit cup. The fruit was diced and fresh and the omelette was delicious and full of flavor.

Decided to try WiseCracks for brunch on Sunday. I had not been to the old Burtons for years and I had heard they renovated the building. I loved the quirky decor and it was very inviting. We did not have to wait long for a table. Our server was friendly and was at our table in a timely manner. The coffee was served in a fun mug and was great. The menu has a wide selection. There is vegetarian and spicy options. The food was delicious and plated wonderfully in bright Feista Ware. We also tried the mimosas flight, which was plenty for two. Their prices are in line with other farm to fork diners. The grandmother’s strawberry jam tasted like 1960’s had just called my name. Definitely a wonderful place to relax and enjoy abote to eat.

I love posting good food reviews to new places I tried, but this place was disappointing. We were seated right away and food came out super quick.. I’m talking in less than 5 minutes. The omelette was actually decent and enjoyable, but the chicken and waffles was one of the worst things I’ve ever had . For starters the there was no flavor to the waffle or the chicken for that matter, was completely over battered, and to top it all off, the chicken was not even cooked through all the way and my last bite was straight up raw. Was disappointed as I had heard great things about this place.

I ordered the special, a bacon filled waffle, it comes with eggs but I have a food sensitivity to eating too many eggs, she let me sub out for fruit with no issue. Grandma ordered the French toast. Everything was delicious. The syrup was warmed and the coffee fresh and hot. The bacon waffle had a smokey savory flavor that smelled and tasted devine! Yum.

Portions were very decent sized and the food was great. I’ve never had corned beef hash in chunks so that was the only thing that felt slightly off. Everything else was great. The grandmama’s jam is a must try! Our server was really nice and ensured we got our food in time cos we had to leave early. I’ll definitely stop by again if I’m ever in town

We were quickly seated and attended to. I chose to get the Beaver combi-Nation which was a great choice! I absolutely loved the French toast! I chose bacon and scrambled eggs for my sides. The only hiccup in my experience was that the eggs came out sunny side up when I asked for scrambled but this was quickly fixed when I brought this up to our waitress. Overall great service and great food!

Business has clearly gotten slower over the last several years and it makes sense why. Truly don’t understand how this place is still in business at all really. I avoid this place at all cost and only come when my friends beg to try this “popular restaurant”. They understand why I feel the way that I feel when we leave. Food is always slow to come and cold even on slow days. I have found shells in my food, parts of the grill scrubber in my food, and hair in my food. To make it even better the cost to eat there is unreasonable and prices just get raised more and more. I have also heard they have cockroaches in the back that will fall into their food, soup wells, and ice. Stop giving this place the recognition it gets. It’s a money grabbing health concern at this point.

Just had breakfast, my wife’s breakfast is OK as she had The veggie skillet. Mine was abysmal. I had the German hashbrowns which included potatoes and two eggs Covered with cheese and grilled onions. I had substituted for home fries since I thought I would get real potatoes. I was really jonesing for some real NW potatoes this morning. Instead, I got frozen seasoned something out of a plastic bag. Seasoning felt like MSG and all I could taste was sodium. It ruined the cheese and onions. I asked the waitress when she served our meals if the potatoes were made there She replied that I should not have substituted the hashbrowns for home fries as the hashbrowns were made fresh and the home fries were not. How the heck was I supposed to know that?. Anyway, when I only ate about a quarter of the home fries I told her that they just tasted like garbage and she told me I should’ve said something. I already had! She did charge us full price and told me well the next time I should speak up and they would’ve remade it. You’ve got to be kidding. I should’ve thought of a good wise crack for that. Anyway, I won’t be going back.

Had breakfast here this morning and it was good. It was a Sunday and there was probably a 5 minute wait at the most. Of course this was on the day of return from winter break so probably not as busy as it usually is. We ended up getting an omelette, a skillet pancakes and eggs benedict. The portions are very large and and one dish could be shared by two we also got the gluten-free cinnamon bun or roll and it was very sweet but it also very good. The coffee it comes in a very large ceramic cup. . All in all, it was a very good breakfast/ brunch.
