Its Me
Our visit was during off season. I ordered a Holland omelette and it was loaded with a lot of cheese and that’s how I like it. I had the side of the huge cinnamon bun to go. Above all, my wait person Suzanne made our day with her excellent service. First ever waitress bringing extra napkins without asking. Kudos to Suzanne! Price of the 3 eggs omelette with a side of huge cinnamon role was under $13. Unbeatable! We will go back for sure.

We had been hearing about this “great downtown restaurant” in Holland, MI for a few years. We decided to have breakfast there on 11-21-2025. It’s a VERY small place that could use a facelift and a quite a bit more. We arrived & and there were no table available. We had to wait outside (yes it was cold) for a table. We waited about 10-15 minutes. We were seated next to the kitchen door. The covered bench seat against the wall was split in the wrong place preventing comfortable seating. It took quite a while to get service. Menus are on the table so we were ready to order when the waitress came by. She insisted on getting our water then came back to get our order. That took several more minutes. We placed our orders including coffee. The coffee made it to us in about 5 minutes. Our orders were taken. Foood was served in about 25 minutes. When it arrived we had to ask for utensils. I was very hungry but looking at the food set in front of me, I was apprehensive to eat it. I ordered 1 egg over medium, hash browns and 2 sausages(I gave one to my husband). I got a bit queasy thinking about eating it. Against my better judgement I tried the sausage. It was mushy. I then tried the egg. It was over easy. I took a small forkful of hash browns that looked like someone poured 1/4 cup of oil over them and risked trying a tiny forkful which I spit it into my napkin. All the food was extremely greasy and tasteless. I drank a bit of water, waiting on the waitress to check on us. She never did. My meal sat on the plate until the waitress came quite a while later, quickly dropped our bill on the table and walked off. My husband ate a bit of his pancakes which were ok but he got grossed out after trying the sausage I shared with him. We had spent enough time there to know we would not return and wanted out the door quickly so he went to pay and I all but ran out the door. I normally don’t take photos of my food but I had to share this one. I’m queasy looking at it.

Been good here since I was a kid. Classic! Decent affordable food, cozy place to dine, awesome staff… Consistently cut over 20 years. Loved the Halloween decorations this year, too, guys

The Windmill restaurant is a local tradition with great food! If your in Holland you should give this place a try… Our server was Susana. She is terrific! Friendly and willing to offer suggestions. Attentive to our needs like keeping the coffee hot & making sure everything we ordered was to our liking. Just a great experience! In the pics I ‘m attaching is my Hashbrown omelet that’s so big it covers the plate & comes with a really big cinnamon bun. My friend ordered steak covered in mushrooms with side salad. Portion size is big so, plan to bring some home for later…

★★★☆☆ – Tasty food, but tough to relax
We stopped in for breakfast at The Windmill Restaurant during a trip to Holland, and while the food had its highlights, the overall experience was a bit overwhelming.
The restaurant was very crowded, noisy, and somewhat chaotic, making it difficult to fully enjoy what was otherwise a solid meal. The servers were kind and attentive, doing their best amid the hectic pace and tight seating.
On the plus side, the daily specials are priced well, and my wife raved about her cheese muffin—every bite was a win. Our daughter had the Denver omelette with gluten-free toast and was thrilled they didn’t upcharge for the gluten-free option. She also noted the eggs were seasoned just right.
Unfortunately, my own meal fell short. The blueberry pancakes were stiff rather than fluffy, and my over-easy eggs came out greasy.
It’s clear they have a loyal following and some great menu items, but due to the overcrowded dining area and noise, we’re not sure we’d return. Might be a better pick if you don’t mind a bustling diner vibe.

Came 2.5 hours to visit Holland and was really looking forward to a good meal—left disappointed. We were hungry and excited to try this spot, but both meals had overcooked eggs (ordered over easy) and everything just felt rushed and sloppy. The wait staff was pretty indifferent. Cute little place and busy, but definitely not worth the drive or the wait.

Excellent food and friendly service! The Windmill came highly recommended by some local friends, glad we made the stop! The cinnamon roll was delicious, the house bread French toast was phenomenal, and our server took great care of us! Definitely worth the wait.
