Fabulous little family-owned burger joint in Ogdensburg, serving these great little cheeseburgers that remind me of Dick’s Drive-in burgers in Seattle (though I think Wimpy’s has been around longer). Friendly and fast service. The burgers were like 3oz patties, but so cheap and tasty that ordering a second seemed like a no brainer. Fabulous fries.

This is a takeout review. All food is eaten promptly in the vehicle. I ordered cabbage salad, fries, a wimpy burger, and deep fried cheese curds. The cabbage salad has the most finely chopped cabbage I have ever eaten and was very good. The fries were simply excellent. The burger with their own sauce was also excellent. And the fried cheese curds with wimpy sauce for dipping just enhanced the entire experience. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 9.3.

Great little burger place, full of tasty food, bright colors, and a healthy dose of nostalgia. The food was right on time as requested. The order was accurate. The burgers are small but inexpensive, so grab a couple. They are generous with the fries.
I’ll be honest and say the wimpy sauce was not my favorite. The cabbage salad (coleslaw) was a good side, not heavy on mayo which is usually the downfall for coleslaws. The fish was tender. The Mac and cheese was fresh and tasty. The staff was helpful and friendly. A thoroughly enjoyable visit and meal.

We visit Wimpy’s every year we come to Ogdensburg. My mother used to go with her brother’s in the 1930’s when they came home on leave. While the current site is not in the same building which burned, the restaurant is filled with photos of the original Wimpy’s.
The restaurant isn’t fancy. There is no table service and everything is served “to go”, even if you are eating in. The food is good and cheap; a Poor Boy Snack of either a Wimpy burger or dog and small fry (heads up…NOT small at all) will set you back $7.00. The most expensive item is “The Plate” (see photo) at $14. My husband ordered it for lunch and we took it home and split it for dinner with an extra helping of fries. The Wimpy sauce can’t be described. Every time I think I can identify a spice it seems to change on my tongue!
Stop if you are in the area or just looking for something different. You won’t be disappointed!

The service is always good! no complaints! I have always loved a small town neighborhood place to eat! I would have gave the food 5 stars too if, the food was hot. still good, just a bit cold. highly recommend!!

We found Wimpy’s Inn on one of our cross-border shopping trips. It had good reviews and was close to the bridge, so we thought we’d try them out. Let me tell you, they exceeded our expectations! The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was fantastic! I ordered the shrimp dinner and my wife had a cheeseburger. While we waited, we kept hearing people come in and order Wimpy burgers. I was intrigued, so I added one to my meal as well. It’s a hamburger topped with a “Michigan”-style meat sauce. It was almost like a sloppy joe on steroids, but far less messy. We didn’t get any pictures of the burgers, because we devoured them too quickly. Both were delicious! We’ll definitely be back!

I am from NYC and I was visiting the area.
Their burgers are prepared with handmade patties and a special ground meat chili sauce puree on top (you can add mayo + onions). By far, the best burgers within the area and a solid burger overall.
They also have hot dogs with a similar chili topping (the texas hot dog just includes mustard and onions too). That was alright.
If you are driving by or within the area, definitely the place to stop by. Kind employees. Old school + retro vibes from inside. Fair prices.
