Established in 1983, Wimpies Country Restaurant was founded by Linda and Bill “Wimp” Stewart. Through the years, the Wimpies building itself has been a long lasting pillar of our community first being know as Owen’s Drug Store, then a pizza parlor, before becoming the Wimpies we know and love today. We are very thankful and blessed thanks to our community who have embraced us for the past 26 years. We look forward to serving yall for even longer. Thank you Soddy Daisy!

Well just stopped into this place and yet another “HOME COUNTRY COOKING” that doesn’t actually do home cooking. I get excited when I think I find a good true home style cooking place, born and raised in Dayton, so I’m a local. First thing I ask when I walk into a place like this for breakfast
“DOES YOUR GRAVY COME FROM A PACKET”
If they answer yes, then you can not trust any other cooking. It’s probably all frozen cheap foods and not actually home made. Hate to see another disappointment. Needless to say I turned around and left without eating.
I took my meal to go, but what service I had was great, the ladies were sweet and polite with good humor.
Atmosphere was nice, bright and felt like I was dining at my buddy’s cabin.
I had the smothered grilled chicken, which was perfectly cooked and covered in a rich, flavorful gravy. The cornbread muffins were outstanding—moist, slightly sweet, and just the right texture. My friend ordered the hamburger steak, which came with all the fixings and was cooked to perfection. Every bite was packed with homestyle flavor.
Our server, Jamie S, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. The atmosphere was warm, rustic, and full of country charm, making it the perfect place to enjoy a hearty meal and good conversation.
If you’re looking for real down-home cooking with top-notch service in a cozy, rustic setting, Wimpies is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back!
GO VOLS!!!
