First time trying catfish. I can see why people love it. My food was so hot I had to take a minute to let it cool. Olivia was a sweetheart. She seemed almost as excited as me that I was trying catfish.
My meal was wonderful, the service was kind and inviting, and it just seems like a warm friendly place.
I waited to eat my hushpuppies until my meal came. Should have eaten those fresh. I’ll try that next time.
Thank you for everything

Stopped by just street lunch during a weekday. The place was almost completely empty. I was asked to pick any seat. Found a table (sticky table at that) and waited until a waitress was able to had me a menu and get my drink order, then disappeared. There was some confusion around the hostess station that seemed to drop my order. Someone finally remembered came work my drink and apology. No harm no foul. She took my order of fish and shrimp with baked potatoe and okra, and off she went.
10 min later she brought my order. The fish pieces seemed small but tasty. My only complaint was it was on the cold side. The rest of the order was actually very nice.
Their then seemed to be a loud and boisterous conversation between all the employees. Then the most disturbing part of the visit. I could easily hear the staff talking about day old food and if it should be thrown away as there was some YELLOW SLIME on the bottom.
I then decided it was time to leave. While I never got sick and my food was actually decent, I wouldn’t eat there again, if for no other reason the YELLOW SLIME debate.

We had an early dinner here tonight and let me just say, we had a FANTASTIC experience!!! First, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and told we could seat ourselves. Our server came over almost immediately and was so friendly and chit chatted with us for a minute and quickly got our drink order. We had 4 adults and two babies with us. We came in with the intention to throw down and that’s exactly what we did! We had mozzarella sticks and bang bang shrimp for appetizers. The mozzarella sticks came out hot and had a good kind of crunchy breading (which we like!) and the shrimp were large and that sauce was in charge. It had a great flavor with the perfect amount of heat. We also got a basket of hush puppies and they were serve hot and fresh with plenty of butter for dipping. For entrees we had hamburger steak with gravy and onions, fried catfish and two bbq plates. There were plenty of sides to choose from and we all tried to get something different but 3 of us couldn’t resist getting Mac and cheese. Highly recommended! It had great flavor and plenty of cheese. It was creamy and seasoned to perfection. Mashed potatoes with gravy, greens and potato salad were pretty dang good too. We got a lb of snow crab legs for the table as well and they were cooked perfectly. Long story longer, we had a wonderful experience from beginning to end and will definitely go back when we are in the area again. The owner even came by and chatted with us a bit. Everyone was so friendly and we appreciated every minute of their time. If you are nearby, you have to check it out. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The issue was that we booked a birthday party for my sister and she wanted her birthday cake to be a cheesecake, so I brought one into the restaurant. Everyone saw me bringing it and it sat on the end of the table with the paper plates we brought the entire time. My sister opened presents and the little kids were given cookies to decorate from a kit my niece brought. There were 9 of us in total and right of us ordered a meal (The youngest child did not eat. ) We sang happy birthday and cut the cake. No one from the restaurant treated this like it was a special occasion, but that was okay. I knew that this was not necessarily that kind of restaurant, but I was shocked at the end of the celebration when a huge announcement was made that someone needed to pay the cake fee of $12.00. No one said anything about this fee until it was time to pay for the meal and THEN they informed us (the entire table including my sister) that there was a $12.00 fee for bringing outside food to the restaurant. Nowhere was it stated that there would be a fee for bringing the birthday cheesecake and at no time were we told that this was a problem until it was time to pay the bill. When one of our party asked why there was an unexpected fee, the management said it was a food and health violation issue to bring in food from outside. However if that was the reason, they should have said we could not have the cake at all when I first brought it in instead of adding the charge. Also there was a fly that kept buzzing over the table during the entire meal ifanyone wants to talk about sanitation issues. Other than this issue (which will ensure that I will never come back), everything was mediocre: the food, the atmosphere, and the attitude of the staff. No one there valued any of us as customers or cared whether my sister’s birthday party was ruined by the way they acted about the cake. If they felt strongly that we should not have brought in a cake from the outside, they should have handled it more tactfully instead of the way they handled it.

My Mom recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, hot, and seasoned perfectly. And the sweet tea, yall, was sweeeeeeet ( which I loved.) We will definitely be back the next time we are in town. Thanks again

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! Rude managers and service! Food was served in shifts. Noone got their food in an orderly fashion. Meals served before salads! Meals were then ice cold. My mother’s salad was served with the base of the lettuce which was ugly and inedible, not to mention inappropriate! A salad was ordered with no onions due to allergies and they served it with onions regardless. Mgmt was not hospitible, nor apologetic. When brought to mgmt attention, we were met with hostile attitude. They should be ashamed and I would not recommend this place to anyone!!!! Absolutely horrible service and mgmt!

This place was amazing! From dinner to soup to dessert. Southern sweet tea is always the best anyways, but theirs was better than most, and their fried banana cheesecake was delicious!

We called at 4 o’clock in the afternoon to inform them that we would have a party of 8 to 9 coming in to celebrate a birthday at 6 PM. When the second group of people arrive, they brought in cheesecake. The cheesecake was sat on the end of the table and remained there during our entire dinner service. At the end of dinner when it was time to cut the cake and serve it, we were told there would be a $12 cake fee. I understand that cakes fees exist at some restaurants, but at no point before then were we told there would be a cake fee. It was not included on the menu or anywhere online. A cake fee usually exists for cutting, plating, and serving a cake brought in from an outside source. We cut the cake ourselves and had our own plates and forks. When I went to speak to the manager and express my dissatisfaction with not being told before the end of the meal or it being properly advertised, she blamed it on the new wait staff. The manager proceeded to say it was against health code and she could have turned us away at the door but didn’t. They could be fined for allowing us to bring it. So…which is it? Is it against Health code or do you charge a fee? So…are you charging us a cake fee for allowing us to break the health code? That doesn’t add up. It can’t be both. My research does not show that it is against health code. You need to update your menu and website to contain information on these additional fees or disclose this to customers when they call to make a reservation especially when you were informed of it being for a birthday. I will do my part to ask about this fee moving forward but there also needs to be clear communication on your fees as well.
An update since I cannot reply to you…I had two cheesecakes and that is it. And in regard to the cookies…the little boys put icing on two small pumpkin cookies while they waited on their meal. At no point was there four cakes or other desserts. We have celebrated two other birthdays the last two months in two local restaurants and neither had any issues with us bringing a dessert. I took ownership of asking beforehand next time and all I asked was for you all to state your policy on your menu as well for clear communication. You also cannot bring beer into an establishment because there is an ABC law prohibiting that which is completely different from this situation. We came to patronize your restaurant because the birthday girl requested it and wanted the flounder. We all tipped the 18% gratuity which was included in our bill from the beginning and which I understand is standard to be included on parties of six or more. When we called the banquet room was offered to us. But a buffet option was never mentioned to us and neither was the option to bring a cake if we booked the room. I just replied I didn’t think we needed to reserve an entire room for a group of 8-9 people and they said ok.

I am leaving this comment to reply to Josh. I am a south hill native and although the old owners are not there anymore, the new owners are personable, welcoming , energetic, knowledgeable about food and their craft. They will work hard to make sure their customers are satisfied. I have been coming Wilson’s with my parents, since I was a child and BOTH owners, old/new, are amazing. You’re just mad Josh that the THIEF got fired and I guess she is still crying about it.She was all of our server at one point and time. Don’t be a bully, EMBRACE change.
