⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ TL;DR: Super fresh fish and chips and worth the lineup. Best enjoyed outside, small details could be improved.
We went right when they opened at 12 and there was already a big lineup, which turned out to be a good sign.
Food
We ordered the chief’s plate, two halibut, two medium fries, two coleslaws, and two tartar sauces.
Everything was delicious. The halibut tasted very fresh and the fries were clearly hand cut and really good. Portions are generous too, one halibut and a medium fries was enough for me and I was very hungry.
The tartar sauce had a curry flavor, homemade and interesting, but not really my taste. I wish there was also a classic version available.
Seating and atmosphere
There isn’t really a comfortable indoor seating area and it smells a bit inside, so sitting outside is definitely the better option. The outdoor benches were great and made the experience much nicer.
Small details
The hot sauce and vinegar bottles were a bit greasy and could be cleaner, but nothing major.
Service
People were friendly and the whole experience felt casual and welcoming.
Final thoughts
Fresh fish, good portions, and worth the wait. Just plan to sit outside and you’ll enjoy it. Definitely a place to try if you like fish and chips.

Used to be one of my favorite places to eat when I lived here about 20 years ago. Had not had it since, and ordered cod and fries today.
While it was very good it did not blow me away as it no once did. Perhaps it is me, 20 years changes a persons tastes! It does not help that I had it as take out as fried food doesn’t travel well, so that cooks be part of it.
My only suggestion. Is that, at least to my liking, the coleslaw seemed a bit under dressed and under seasoned. Fries also definitely needed salt.

Been here a few times now and can confidently say it’s worth a stop in! I’ve had the fish & chips, burger, corn dog, poutine, chowder, chili, and milkshake. Regardless of what I order, it is always exceptionally tasty and very fairly priced. Even better when brought down to the beach to enjoy. Extremely lucky to have such a gem in this neighborhood! With fast food prices these days we’ve been paying at least this much elsewhere for food that wasn’t nearly as good. Willow Gallley is a new favourite restaurant of mine. We used to live right up on Pacific about 20 years ago, and picking up halibut and fries was a regular treat. We were in Victoria and decided to take a trip down memory lane. Bad idea!! Fish and chips rank close the worst I’ve had in 20 years. I was looking forward to crispy tasty fish and got bland, squishy, oil-soaked fish. Same with the fries – soggy and soft. And was I tasting curry powder in tartar sauce? Yuck!

Great spot for fish and chips! Make sure you get here early on the weekend, as it gets pretty busy. The food is great and came out quickly after ordering. The owners are very friendly and kind, and it was nice to sit outside the shop and enjoy lunch at their outdoor tables.
