It’s a drive thru BBQ, so the “shack” is a very good description. Looks different, is good though.

Kinda different set up, but we gave it a try. He has several different versions of smokers set along the edge of the parking lot. You pull in to the left of the smokers up to the window to order.

No posted menu, look it up before you go. If you don’t you’ll be playing 20 questions with the staff. Which by the way, are some really nice people. Paying cash seems to make the transaction easier for them.

We got a 2 piece chicken, 2 ribs with fries and BBQ beans for the sides $22, kinda pricey, but decent BBQ is.

Fries were nothing special, no seasonings.

BBQ beans looked a little dry, not the usual soupy, heavy sugar most places serve. These were very good, soft, and seasoned well.

Ribs, not the overcooked fall off the bone while trying to eat type. These held the sauce and were a good bite, you could smell the seasonings and the wood smoke flavors.

Chicken, huge leg and thigh combo, juices dripping out, lots of seasoning, the same smoke flavor. Fully cooked and very good.

We were there in the early afternoon and close around 5pm. I have heard that the sell out, so call ahead to make an order to get yours.

I just stopped there and picked up the best pulled pork and fries i’ve ever had and my aunt loved it too, I came home with that for dinner. We will be back to try the ribs. Everyone that was working was very personable and talkative. Thanks Willie for bringing the restaurant to our town and everything you do for the country and military!

I didn’t expect the main store to be closed. Then again, the shack was open half a block away.

When I arrived, they had just sold out of the brisket (left me a little disappointed). Fortunately, the Three Bone Rib combo was still available and I found it to be pretty good.

The rib sauce was a great blend of sweet and spicy, adding even more flavor to the ribs. The potato salad was a nice cool contrast to the cooked foods in my combo. And the beans were supplemented by some chunks of ground beef and jalapeños, an excellent choice.

The next time I go, I’ll have to be sure to arrive earlier to have more options available. And hopefully the main sit-in restaurant area will be open.

Tried them for the first time recently & went back less than a week later! They got my food out to me in less than 5 mins & it’s a good price for the meal, considering it tastes home cooked… everyone there is very welcoming and accommodating:) 10/10 recommend

Willy Ray was super nice! I ordered brisket but they were already out for the day and the chicken is dark meat which I’m not a fan of. I’m not a fan of pork so I did the ribs which were very good. The potato salad was good. I’m not a huge fan of beans but I tried them, they were good for beans. My husband had a pulled pork sandwich which he said was very good. Very well presented.

If you want the best ribs you will ever have in your life this IS THAT PLACE. The amount of food for the price is excellent. The food is excellent. The people are excellent. Ask my wife I don’t like much but THIS is it. This makes every other BBQ in the state question if they can make their food this good.

Great experience today coming through the drive thru. The worker was so kind he went above and beyond for my fur baby, as she is passing soon, he gave us great service and a bit extra meat for my Lil on her last day. Thank you for your kindness, sir! Lily really loves your food!!! So tasty from us as well!

Always greeted with a family like welcome, and food is always on par. I’ve been enjoying his food since the food truck and will continue doing so for as long as I remain a local. The ribs are great, never dry. And plenty of great sides and other meat options as well. Best BBQ in Linn County.

No better restaurant on planet earth. Do you think I’m exaggerating? I have never been to Iowa, but I know they are the best. I was in my old Korean War veteran father’s home in North Fort Myers when Hurricane Ian hit. I am third generation from Fort Myers. Fort Myers had no surge from any hurricane in 111 years before Hurricane Ian. We went underwater. Miles up the Caloosahatchee River where my dad grew up, our entire neighborhood went underwater. My dad lost all his worldly possessions. We had no food, no water, no electricity, no cell phone service. We had nothing but destruction. In the weeks after, no national charity showed up to help at ground zero of hurricane Ian. We never saw red cross, salvation army or any other national charity that begged for people to send money to help the victims of hurricane Ian. Who did we see help? Two groups: the local Ocean Church (handing out subs and drinks door to door to people who lost everything) and some people who set up a BBQ stand in the local parking lot of Big Lots. All I remembered was a big Q on their trailer. They handed out amazing meals for free to our locals who lost their homes and everything else. We had nothing to eat and here they were handing out amazing meals for free. I could not find them for years, but I’m so grateful I have now. I will never forget what you did for our people in Florida after the worst tragedy of our lives.
