I heard about Williams’ Confectionery through TikTok, and let me tell you the hype is absolutely justified. This family-owned and operated bakery has that rare blend of delicious homemade food, warm hospitality, and a comforting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.
People rave about their generous portions, mouthwatering cakes and desserts, and their perfectly cooked omelets. After my visit, I can confidently say every word of praise is well-deserved. I ordered the breakfast special (2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 toast, and hash browns), and everything was flawless. My eggs were scrambled hard exactly the way I like them, the turkey bacon something you don’t find in many restaurants around here was perfectly crispy, and the hash browns were golden, crispy, and not the least bit soggy.
The atmosphere sealed the deal for me. The photos and religious décor throughout the space felt nostalgic and reminded me of visiting my grandmother’s house growing up. It’s the kind of environment that instantly wraps you in comfort.
I also grabbed a slice of sweet potato pie, and let me be very honest Patti LaBelle’s pie doesn’t hold a candle to this one. It was rich, flavorful, and simply unforgettable.
On top of all that, the pricing was pretty good too—very fair for the quality and portion sizes they offer.
Everything was so good that I ended up ordering a full Thanksgiving dinner on the spot. And if today’s meal is any preview of what’s coming, I already know it’s going to be absolutely DELICIOUS.
I’m genuinely excited to come back and try more items on the menu. Williams’ Confectionery isn’t just a bakery it’s a taste of real Southern home cooking, served with love. Highly recommend
The green beans tasted like they been simmering since Moses parted the Red Sea, squash and onions so tender they slid into my spirit, and that roll? Soft enough to wipe away your sins. And don’t get me started on the fried chicken tenders crispy like they just whispered “HalleluYah” when they came out the grease. This place ain’t just serving food, it’s serving therapy with a side of fries. If you leave here hungry, that’s on you. And I cannot forget the Hospitality was amazing everyone that worked there spoke to me and said hi and make sure that I was having the greatest experience , but I Almost forgot to mention they have the best wedding cake in the city I go all over the world trying wedding cakes this place I am actually a wedding officiant and have had my fair share of wedding cakes It’s moist soft and made with love the second I bit into my first bite. I felt my back get bigger. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.
I’m not a cake or pie person but I want to eat my way week to week thru the sweets case alone. I keep buying two and give one away but so far I’ve had the berry pies, peach pie, gooey bars, cinnamon roll and gave away some coconut chess pie.
I’ve also sat in for lunch (they have a good mix of breakfast and lunch on the menu and even have daily specials, which I ordered), and I thought chicken and dumplings would be the star of my plate. While my entree was good, the green beans, whaaaaat?! And the candies yams, sooo glad they’re not bombarded in marshmallow by whatever it is -maybe clove and honey?- is soooo good; I can see why it’s been on KENS5 Neighborhood Eats, and maybe even Diners Drive In & Dives? If I’m mistaken about that latter, someone call Guy and tell him to come on down.
If WHEN you go here you get to, talk with Joyce even if just to thank her but likely you’ll be inspired; she’s quite a lady!
Also up for grabs here, á show of support for local artisans from wall art to headbands to community gathering, I think it’s comedy this Friday? Come, check them out. I don’t know why I thought Jim’s was my favorite local diner but especially since they’re slipping and now sliding downhill at my two local locations, I’m soooo glad I found this place!
My mom got the Loaded biscuit with a side of sausage gravy. I had a bite and it was very delicious! Sometime you go places and loaded means messy. Not the case with Williams Loaded Biscuits. Lots of flavor that held its shape!
I got the Chicken and waffles with a side of grits. This was my first time having chicken and waffles and I feel it’s appropriate to say that this has set an extremely high bar for future chicken and waffles. The waffle was soft and fluffy and the chicken was hot, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. I’d like to recommend warm syrup be served with it!
The atmosphere feels very home-like and comfortable. Along with the owners and staff, they were welcoming and warm. I particularly enjoyed the art prints that they sell! I look forward to revisiting this restaurant and trying something new! I made sure to buy a cinnamon roll on the way out too!
I had chicken and waffles with a side of biscuits and gravy. The chicken tenders were hand battered, made to order and larger than my palms. What I enjoyed the most was the batter that coated the chicken. It was savory, yet slightly sweet… I give it a perfect 10/10. Even with the hint of sweetness, the herbs and spices of the chicken are what stood out, they took center stage.
The Belgian waffle was airy, not soggy at all… I really liked the texture. The biscuits and gravy were fluffy and more than substantial. They have a coffee bar to self serve and everything is so hot and fresh…Quality is the theme here.
Mrs. Williams conversed with us and jokingly asked if I thought I’d be able to finish it….I told her I would certainly try!! Little did I know that Mrs. Williams had personally prepared my food as she has done for her customers for many years. I can taste the love that her food was made with.
I don’t think I have ever used the words “life changing” for a restaurant, but this place is it. Give Williams confectionery crafts a try, you’ll be glad you did.
Ambience, service and the food…oh my.
Finally found pancakes better than mine. My Son (food critic) had nothing but praise for each dish. Fried pork chop, grits, biscuit and sausage gravy.
Can’t wait till Thursday – I need some chicken and dumplings in my life!
Apologies for the photos, food was soooo good I forgot to take pics till 1/2 the plate was gone
