Coming from San Diego, where fish taco shops are basically on every other block, and growing up spending weekends in Ensenada, I’ve got pretty high standards for Baja-style seafood tacos. Tacos Baja Cali definitely delivers where it counts.
The fish and shrimp tacos are delicious when they have them. The fish is perfectly fried with a traditional seasoned beer batter, the tortillas are lightly fried which adds a great freshness and texture, and the crema sauce is nicely tangy and perfectly balanced. You can tell they know what they’re doing with the seafood preparation.
They also serve the tacos with a proper side of pickled carrots and chiles, plus big limes, which is always appreciated.
My only real knock is the lettuce… Traditional Baja fish tacos always use thinly shredded cabbage, not limp lettuce. It’s totally wrong to put lettuce because it doesn’t hold up to the crema sauce. If they swap it with cabbage then these tacos would be perfect.
One other small convenience thing, the aguas frescas next door are great, but it’d be nice if the payment systems were connected so you don’t have to pay twice.
That said, this is still my go-to spot in the area for fish and shrimp tacos, and I’ve been coming back for more.

I ordered 2 super burritos and asada fries, the lady was nice she gave us 2 green salsa and 2 red which are small for all the food. I asked for more she said she put them in the bag, which I didn’t check until I got home. In the burritos it was just meat, beans and rice no sour cream or cheese or even onions and cilantro. The food was okay and when I asked for pickled jalepenos and carrots she said they were in the bag, which there was none. I seen the guy before me grab his food and she put lots of extra condiments in for him so not sure if she’s nicer to certain people since I don’t speak Spanish and he did, will not go back I rather make my own food at home especially for the price I paid for all the food.

I thought tacos were decent and well priced as well.
If you are looking for a quick bite, it’s a perfect spot. A little less oil in the food would have been nice(but I didn’t specify so it’s on me).

Before I thought it was a good place to stop by to eat and I really like how they serve the food, but the last two times I’ve been there it’s been a disaster. If they don’t make a mistake with the order and give me something I didn’t order, or I order 4 different ones and they only give me three. I hope the owner sees this so he can hire the right person to serve me.
