But if you grew up in the Arizona/Texas/New Mexico region, you would know you’re getting robbed.
The texture is good. The fat is good. The flavor? Nothing. Not. A . Thing. I may as well be eating tofu with BBQ sauce.
I really wanted to like it. But there’s no justification for the price to quality ratio. Y’all are being robbed. BBQ should taste MUCH better than this. Much much better. Coleslaw tasted blandly sweet, like you added stevia to mayonnaise. Portion sizes like a double patty McDonalds.
I’m sorry guys. If you think this is good, I’m really sorry.
I actually thought it was strictly a bar and event venue for so long but there’s actual bbq here and it’s surprisingly good. The facility itself is nothing to write home about, definitely more geared towards the live music and bar but I didn’t come for the atmosphere.
Their brisket was bonkers good. Their sweet sauce is amazing, as were almost all their other sauce options. Loved the fish basket. The mac and cheese was good but I wish it was thicker with a sharper cheddar flavor but my partner loved it as is. One major important note was the coleslaw is actually good. Far too often slaw is too soggy or has an off taste but this was perfectly tangy. The portions are great and pricing is unbeatable. You can tell this place is well loved. They seemed a little short staffed which was okay by us, we were still taken care of and like being able to pay our bill through the toast app.
We went on a Sunday evening and it was quiet. This was nice because we personally don’t like a lot of noise (whether a music act or music blaring.) When we remember to eat here again we will be sure to pick the same evening.
We ordered the cheese curds appetizer and two meat platter with pulled pork, brisket, baked beans and corn nuggets. It come with a slice of Texas toast. Brisket ($1) and corn nuggets ($3) are an upcharge. Still economical. The cheese curds were phenomenal! They were fluffy almost like air with a cheese taste. Towards the end of our meal, when they cooled off they were firmer but expected. The two meats were tasty, just enough smoke and not a lot of spices. We’d rather put the sauce on for flavor. They offer jerk, Carolina, sweet, spicy and original. We preferred the original and sweet. The baked beans were more spicy and smoky than we like but that is a personal preference. We also enjoyed the corn nuggets. Suggestion to Wildwood…get some sweet potato fries on the menu – that would be perfect. 🙂
The plates are rectangle metal dishes. I did not care for silverware on metal sound (like fingernails on a chalkboard.) I will ask for the parchment paper liners they have when they serve their food. That will help.
Seating (at least on the first floor) is barstool height. They did have 3 folding tables on the dance floor but there wasn’t an event or music so it worked.) Any other time I don’t see an option for a person in a wheelchair height. The 2nd floor is only accessible by stairs.
We’ll be back to try more sides and meats for sure!
The food was divine and they had Carolina Mustard BBQ sauce.
Great ribs!! Got there about noon and ordered. It’s quiet that time of day, so there was no waiting. The Rib dinner seemed a bit expensive at $18.00, but they brought me enough to last three meals! The Ribs were excellent and the potato salad and coleslaw were both just as good. Next time I’m hungry for ribs, I’m heading back there! Below are more of nice food available!
