Reviews
They gave rice to curries which was not completely enough for us and we took another vegetable fried rice.
The rolls were so good. The fried rice was also very tasty and very hot as per request like the Thai spice.
But both the curries are okay okay. Like they were good but did not get the Thai flavors or spice. But can say they they tasted awesome with the vegetable fried rice.
Pros: cheap $10-10.50 daily lunch specials. The Thai iced tea was delicious and made just right — perfect ratio of black tea to condensed milk.
I had the Wild Ginger Pad Thai lunch special, which came with your choice of hot & sour soup or chicken rice soup. I chose the latter and it was tasty.
The pad thai was also delicious — moist and flavorful. Only 2 pieces of shrimp, however.
Cons: there are ZERO curries listed in their daily lunch special offerings. Most Thai restaurants offer at least 1-2 curries on their lunch special. Here, they list their curries for $15.50+.
Service was severely lacking. They were NOT FRIENDLY or hospitable at all. We were seated, they took our order, served us food, and NEVER came back to check in. I had to ask for a chili tray, more water, and a check.
I also asked for a to-go box for my noodles as well as a to-go cup for my half drunk Thai tea as I wanted to bring it with me on the bus. It was hot out.
I was then given a plastic round container and a lid as well as one of those take-out boxes that you’d typically get at a Chinese restaurant.
When I asked about a cup to go for my tea, the lady working nonchalantly answered, “We don’t have any” and pointed to the container. When I asked her how was I supposed to drink my tea on the go, that the container is for food, not a beverage, she just shrugged and left.
HOW does a restaurant NOT have to-go cups? Has anyone not ordered Thai tea or Thai coffee to go? Unbelievable, and even more bothersome that the lady was so unconcerned with my needs as a customer. It was the lack of warmth and hospitality that did not warrant a gratuity in the end.
Only the cook deserves praise. The front of house staff are like robots. No smile. No conversation. No check-in. Nothing. I get that in Thailand, this is how it is. I have traveled there. I, myself am Asian, and in the Asian culture, we let diners be. However, this is America. The restaurant culture in America is not the same in Asian countries.
I’m in the service-based industry too, and tips are part of our livelihood, but I believe in working hard for your money. Customer service is everything, but unfortunately, the staff here exemplify zero customer service skills.
I ordered #5 on the menu, pineapple duck. The menu price is 16.95. I posted a picture of the menu and our check. When the check came it was 21.95. Our server apologized and told me it was his mistake but they could not do anything about it when we came up to pay at the cash register. I argued a little bit about it and he went back to ask someone if they could fix it and he came back and said no. I argued a little more and he went back and got the lady he was talking to. She came out YELLING at me that they weren’t going to honor the menu price. Now we are yelling back and forth at each other over the cash register in front of other guests. She said fine I’ll honor it this time but never again. I said that’s cool we will never come back here. She said great we would prefer that.
Sorry, no. You can’t just charge whatever price you feel like that differs from your menu.
Especially when they are aware of it. The server even told me this has happened a few times already.. put a sticker over the price with the new one what’s the problem?
You now lost a customer that eats out for every meal , and got a one star review out of it. You’re going to YELL at me over a mistake YOU made?!
SCAM!
Also, the bench I sat in the cushion was completely sunken in. Furniture needs to be updated. I feel really bad for the owners of this establishment and it’s sad that there were so many regulars there that obviously don’t know what good Thai food is.
Thai tea-
Good
Appetizer:
Chicken satay-
Great appetizer! I do recommend! Sauces were good too, clear one was a little sweet. Chicken was cooked good with a good flavor as well. Recommend by server.
Main dishes:
Chicken coconut soup- can’t remember the name. Highly recommend, great soup. I got medium and it wasn’t spicy to me so I added some more spice (dry spice) great soup!
Panang curry-
one of the worst I’ve had, flavors were not there at all. Doesn’t look appetizing either. Don’t recommend. Ordered with chicken and beef, meats were alright, sauce not.
Chicken stir fry dish- can’t remember name.
Don’t recommend, flavors not good at all, bad sauce.
Overall I wish we got different dishes, I don’t think we tried the right things. Maybe we should’ve got the chef specials. The only reason I didn’t get a green or yellow curry was because the pictures did not look that great.
