I was told to try here instead of kazumi’s steakhouse in Muskegon.
Here’s my findings;
Crab meat Rangoons=wild chef kicked blew kazumi’s out of the water, 9.5/10 it was extremely unique and delicious.
Chicken tempora=kazumi’s was wayy better
Showmanship=kazumi’s was much fancier and skilled
Serving size=similar, but wild chef does a little bit of lo mein noodles with you rice with a small portion of veggies while kazumi’s does a larger portion of veggies.
Speed=similar on average, but wild chef probably comes out in the lead based off of our experience

Bonuses -kazumis for sure, they do sake spraying and it’s a blast, and they have water for the kids to try it, and they throw cuts of veggies instead of balls of rice for the mouth catch game so it’s much less messy.
They both give the 2 free
pieces of jumbo shrimp
They both do the volcano and the initial fire ring.

Hope this helps!

Solid Hibachi spot with fast and friendly service. The portions were great and everything tasted good. No issues found while visiting the restaurant.
I got Hibachi chicken n steak and Bento box. Both were super flavorful and I had so much I needed 2 take out boxes.

I absolutely love this place. It’s one of the best Filets I’ve ever had, if you get the lunch special you get candied carrots with it, and coming from a person that hates vegetables, I eat them before I even touch the steak! The staff all around is awesome, I haven’t seen a staff member look like they didn’t want to be there. Very polite, helpful and knowledgeable about anything on the menu, the hibachi chef’s are great! The sushi chef’s are great, wait staff amazing, I could keep going, but I think I’ve made my point. My price per person is on the high side because of my meal and beverage choices, but with a whole family, it can get expensive. It’s worth every penny of the money you spend there!

Twice the price of Chicago.

Less than half as tasty.

No atmosphere.

Slowwwww service…. almost an hour to get sushi

Dirty water glasses.

Nope! Don’t do it. Drive to Grand Rapids and get much better food, service and atmosphere for half the price!

August 2025:
Stopped in again and I ordered the same thing. I love the hibachi jumbo shrimp. Winnie was our server this time and she was great. So far this place is the best hibachi I e had in Michigan. I really wish they had one of these in Oakland County, MI.

May 2023:
I used to travel to Holland for work and stayed in the Hampton Inn behind this restaurant for 4 nights a week from 2010 to 2016 and I ate here at least once a week. My favorite was the Hibachi shrimp, so when I was in Holland over the weekend, I had to stop in try it to see if it was still good. I’m glad we stopped in because it was just as good as before. Everything we had was excellent. I recommend this place for hibachi and sushi. The staff are also very friendly. Our server Ulani had a great attitude and was very nice. I don’t have a single complaint about this place and I’ll be back again the next time I’m in town. The total for lunch before tip was $27 and that was enough for two people.

I mean, if you’re in the mood for hibachi, this place hits the spot. Our chef must’ve been having an off night, he wasn’t super talkative, seemed sort of subdued…but that was fine with us because our table had a few groups that didn’t know each other and we were talking among ourselves. Food was absolutely delicious though! The salmon was so tender and flavorful, the shrimp was so delicious, and the fried rice was some of the best I’ve had in a long while. The noodles were an unexpected, but welcome addition to the standard hibachi experience. I highly suggest doing the double vegetables, if you tend to like veggies.

Leaving a review purely for our server, Raina. She waited on our family tonight and had such great energy! She was funny, kind, and attentive. Honestly I could see her working at Disney! She was so engaged and put on just as good of a show as our chef!!

Great hibachi place for the family to go to. Their fried rice is always good, and the appetizers are fair. The sushi they make has always been well made and tastes awesome and a big plus in plating. Their presentation with the sushi boats are always a cool thing to see.

The service has always been great and the wait is usually less than 10 minutes.

The food is incredible, and the chef puts on a show that’s out of this world. The high-quality meat and veggies make you forget that you’re in a Midwest strip mall; it’s like they block out all the car noise. Plus, you can’t see the parking lot, which is a nice touch that you’ll appreciate, especially if you’ve been to other restaurants in strip malls.

TLDR: I keep coming here for the crab Rangoons, and everything else I’ve had here is also fantastic. The hibachi is good and entertaining, the sushi is fresh and delicious- BUT THE CRAB RANGOONS

I’ve visited this place almost every time I find myself in holland to visit my friend. The crab Rangoons are ridiculous and filled with huge chunks of crab! (See photo) I’ve not eaten the like at any other restaurant and I’m addicted! I’ll be craving them and have to visit Wild Chef!

I usually get the hot tea (pictured) and miso or clear soup (If I get hibachi, it comes with clear soup and house salad with ginger sauce that’s pretty good).

I’m including pictures from 2 separate visits where at one we ate hibachi and at the other we had sushi in the dining room. The first plate of sushi is what we got as an appetizer before we got hibachi- I got the white tuna and avocado roll and she got the spicy tuna roll. I ordered the shrimp hibachi.

I honestly couldn’t tell you what the other sushi pictures were because they were taken previously and I don’t remember what they were called, but they’re pretty, so I’m including the pics in the review .

Overall this is one of my favorite sushi places because
1) the Rangoons are bomb
2) the sushi is fire
3) the prices aren’t crazy expensive, especially compared to other hibachi places in GR
4) the service is always good and the servers are always nice and attentive.

I’ll be back soon, I’m sure!
