A wonderful Cafe with great food, as well as a unique Ice Cream Shop located inside The Wild Animal Sanctuary’s iconic Welcome Center. The Cafe features a garden fresh salad bar, as well as mouth watering Pizza and a full menu of lunch and dinner items. Our Ice Cream is made with tapioca rather than corn syrup, so all the flavors are incredibly smooth and creamy! There is no charge to visit the Sanctuary’s Welcome Center, so you can visit 7 days a week to get your favorite meal or sweet treat!

What a breath-taking experience! Yes, it is a 3 mile elevated walkway, but it allows you to observe animals in the least invasive way.

Between Denver and Fort Collins. Great place for a day outing. We went early, the animals were mostly active. We also saw some animals being fed. One bear was doing yoga and some bears were frolicking in the water. Bring your binoculars or rent at the entrance. Such a great undertaking to give sanctuary to these animals. The place mostly runs on donations. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to talk about the animals, including bears, big cats, wolves, foxes, lynx to name some. There’s a mile and a half of elevated walkway that you have to walk, so you see the animals from above. There’s shade with chairs to sit and restrooms along the way. Very peaceful. Birds were very active too. What a treat!

The wildlife here have truly found a safe place to live out their days. You can really feel the staff’s energy and how they care about the wildlife. Every staff member we engage with, we’re very knowledgeable. This sanctuary is a very worthy cause. When you hear some of the stories of the animals brought here, it really pulls at your heart. Recommend this experience.

Worth the trip and the different animals. They have a sky walk way over the animals. Get to learn about the animals and where they came from and the rehabilitation center. A lot better then a zoo. They have a lot more room. There a gift shop and few places to rest. They got this really cool animal statues around the place when you first get there.
I posted this many many years ago. I’ve seen this place long before the tiger king. I’ve seen the show and they said some of the tiger kings cats are here. I don’t want to go back and see them in a better environment.

Such a unique experience! It’s a great way to talk a long walk while seeing the animals. The foxes are sooooo cute. The ice cream shop has really unique flavors (we got a strawberry cookie and cream, key lime pie, and salted caramel with oreos). Just be prepared for the weather, I’ve been freezing in the wind and rain as well as dying of heatstroke. Their water bottles are only $1! There are plenty of restrooms along the bridge and the place seemed pretty accessible (the far end of the path has a pretty steep incline). The end of the path has a snack bar (with wheelchair and wagon rental in case you regret the decision not to get on at the entrance).

I absolutely loved my experience at Wild Animal Sanctuary – it is a well designed and maintained place that is crucial for educating the public on the plight of exotic animals. It’s a little hard to read about all the incredible stupidity that exists in mankind when it comes to the acquisition of large exotic animals & what kind of abuse they endure & suffer when improperly cared for. W.A.S provides a place of rest for them in natural surroundings without being prodded to perform. The area where all the lion prides meet is quite stunning and there is plenty of close up lion interaction to observe.
We were very lucky to be visiting during the late afternoon in the summer after a cooling thunderstorm had rolled through. All the big cats were out as well as the bears, foxes etc. Quite a lineup!

Plan to take a look at wild animals that have been rescued and are now safe. The habitats are large and animal friendly. You walk above the enclosures and can rent a motorized chair if needed. This venue is informative and inspirational. Donations have enabled it to expand from the humble roots of its beginning.

Such a great experience. You walk right above the animals on a 3mile bridge! The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable they can tell you stories of where animals came from how long they are kept in rehabilitation. Such a nice adventure for the kids. We visited in October and it was very windy on our walk out and back to the entrance. They have an awesome welcome area with gifts shop, food and ice cream!

This is the most fun and educational experience I’ve ever been to. The volunteers are knowledgeable and the animals are taken care of with great care and love.
I don’t think this place is JUST a sanctuary it a place where the animals seem to really enjoy being. They have room to roam and socialize with their own kind. I love the Wild Animal Sanctuary and bring my children and grandchildren to often. It’s a great way to introduce your family to the struggles of wild animals who once were iin dire sisituations and are now in a setting where they are protected and cared for with the utmost compassionate, sympathetic, and supporting way imaginable.
I give my thanks and praises to all the employees and volunteers for all their hard work and guardianship of all the animals here at the Wild Animal Sanctuary. Brovo Great Job Everyone❣️❣️❣️

Go early in the day. We saw Fox, wolves, grizzlies, brown bears, black bears,( some of the bears playing and cooling off in ponds and their water tanks) lynx, lions, tigers! There was a light breeze blowing and the temperature was nice. About noon it started to heat up and our umbrellas were appreciated for additional shade. Definitely wear sunglasses and sun protection. Don’t forget to bring binoculars- it really gave us a better view of some of the animals that were further away.
