My first time at Wilbo’s was a great experience. I haven’t ordered a burger in a restaurant for several years. That will change after today! The staff were super nice too. Ayden took good care of us and was very attentive. The cook even popped out to check if I was enjoying the burger. Loved the window seat too! I will be back.

Food is pretty good, but they failed a health inspection recently so be cautious. They automatically force a 15% tip on to-go orders. That is NOT okay. People tip on service, and they should be able to CHOOSE the tip amount. I will never be back solely for this reason. Stop pulling actions like this, it will be the downfall of the restaurant. If you have to rely on forcefully charging a 15% tip to keep your kitchen staff, you aren’t paying them enough. Be better.

UPDATE: In response to the owner’s reply to my original review, I want to clarify a few key points.

First, the 15% carryout fee was not disclosed anywhere at the time I placed my order! Not on their menu, and not when I placed my order over the phone. And despite what the owner claims, the fee was clearly calculated AFTER tax, not before. I was quoted a total that included only the items and tax, and then the 15% was added afterward with no warning.

For the record, I went ahead and attached a copy of their menu (posted publicly by another reviewer), which clearly shows no mention of any carryout surcharge. That lack of transparency speaks for itself.

Second, I find it incredibly unprofessional that the owner accused me of “screaming” at a staff member. That never happened. I calmly asked, in a reasonable manner, why I was charged more than quoted. Trying to portray a customer as aggressive for just asking a fair question that almost any other individual would ask who is being overcharged, says a lot more about the business than it does about me.

The food was decent, but the surprise fee and the owner’s hostile and defensive response make it clear that this place lacks both transparency and professionalism. I recommend others think twice before supporting a business that treats customers this way.

BUYER BEWARE: Wilbo’s Burgers Brats & Beers charges an additional 15% fee if you order carryout, and even worse, that fee is calculated AFTER the tax is added!

I called to place an order and was told it would be ready in about 25 minutes. They gave me a total over the phone that reflected the items + tax. There was no mention whatsoever of a 15% surcharge for simply picking up my own food.

When I arrived I found out the real total is calculated as: Items + Tax = Subtotal. Subtotal + 15% = what you ACTUALLY pay.

When I asked the manager about it, they told me the fee was to “help the chefs in the back.” I responded: “Maybe you should pay them what they deserve instead of dumping your responsibilities onto your customers!”

We ordered the Wilbo Combo as an appetizer, plus a Build Your Own hamburger and The Spicy One brat. The food was decent; won’t deny that.

However, the lack of transparency and the way they shift their responsibilities onto customers is unacceptable. I will definitely NOT be coming back. I recommend others who are ordering from them to check your bill carefully before you pay.

They get the biggest 0 there is!!
I have never had such a disgusting meal from Wilbo Burgers since I’ve been coming here for years.
Beyond disappointing….
I HAD (last time was today April 29,2025) been going to Wilbo for almost 5 years of traveling here to Cedar Falls, IA.
Today was the WORST…..!!
There’s been times where it was not what I remember from past experiences, but I expect everyone has a not so good day.
I don’t know if they didn’t value me as a customer because of my color, or just having a cook that needs SERIOUS training on consistency.
Don’t know if the griddle was only hot enough for one side of the burger, not sure what happened. Another thing, was the fryer not working as well to cook the CRISPY mac & cheese? Doesn’t really look like it even hit a fryer.
Wherever the issue maybe, I deserve better period.

My husband and I had burgers. Hand made, slightly crispy on the edges, juicy and delicious. Fried green pepper rings were hot, not greasy and delicious. They make their own ranch to dip them in and it’s yummy. Fries were hot and good. Mimi is a wonderful host. Our favorite place to sit by the windows (we call them a snug) were full but all other seating is comfortable. We had a blood Mary and it was delish. This is Cedar Falls’ best burger place. They have really good
hot dogs, also.

This is a locally owned business and was my first opportunity to try their well-prepared food. Upon entering you get a sports bar-type vibe with plenty of alcoholic and soft beverages. Their menu mainly consists of appetizers and custom burgers. I personally chose to go with the build-your-own-burger option. I got a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup, lettuce, and raw onion. The server was quick to attend our table and was slightly average meaning she didn’t make any mistakes but did her job well. The kitchen is tiny which means I had to wait about 15 minutes for the food but it was worth it because of its delicious flavor and large portion sizing. The restaurant was clean and well kept together making good use of the small place it is for this reason that I give this establishment a 4 out of 5 stars.

This a quaint little place on the outskirts of downtown Cedar Falls. The ambiance is fun and the staff is friendly, and the menu is small, just burgers and brats alongside a variety of sides. And in terms of the entrees, everything is fantastic. The burger is one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s basically a “build-your-own” situation, but the meat is flavorful and cooked well, the bun is tasty, and the toppings are plentiful. And the Colorado Green Chili is just amazing. It’s very simple, just peppers and meat, but that’s why it’s so good. The other sides that we had, though, are a little lacking. The fried Mac-n-cheese, while impressively large, were oddly flavorless and the fries were improperly fried, so they were floppy and greasy rather than crunchy and delicious. However, the quality of the burger more than makes up for this. If you are in Cedar Falls and you want a good meal, hit this place up. Just skip the sides, get a burger and a beer (and maybe some chili) and you won’t be disappointed.

Very, very rarely have I given a 5 star but this place to us was worth it. Service was great, food was even better. Loved the atmosphere as well. The owner (I’m assuming) was present and helping with tables and drinks. Food was hot and seasoned pefect for me. I had a build your own, my son had a menu burger, his gf had a brat and my wife had the veggie burger. All of them were on point.

The drinks were good, my only suggestion would be a full drink menu, I ordered an old fashioned, but didn’t know what bourbon was being used.

Overall one of rhe best experiences we’ve had eating out this year.
