The Wiazhaus is an iconic, old school restaurant with a great selection of schnitzel and other Austrian specialties. Its is cash only (you know it’s good) and reservations are highly recommended. It was the best Schnitzel we had in the city and it had a more “local”, less touristy price structure. Highly, highly recommend.

This is my first time tasting Wiener schnitzel and I felt like it was very dry. With lemon and cranberry sauce it was better. Generous portion. I also got apple strudel and that was mid at best. Dough at the bottom was very undercooked and vanilla sauce was very very sweet. They do not accept credit cards, very inconvenient and weird for 2026. The atmosphere wad lovely but I had higher hopes from the reviews.

We had dinner at this restaurant last night. We booked at this place expecting to find tradition, and I must say our wish came true!! From how the place is decorated to the food which is absolutely great!! I loved everything we had from the main course to the desserts and as a plus everything is home made!! It is a very small restaurant so I recommend booking in advance.
I would definitely go back!

Yum Yum Yum!!
This was probably the tastiest Austrian food we have had on our travels around Austria so far!
We were welcomed and seated straight away (Although it seems like it’s best to book, i think we just got lucky)
The staff were very friendly towards us regardless of the fact we only speak english.
The portion sizes were generous and the whole restaurant has a really cool vintage vibe to it!
Thanks so much!

”I visited two days in a row, and I was deeply touched by both the incredible flavors and the genuine hospitality. The daily soup recommendation was the highlight of my trip, and the grilled meat set and schnitzel were tender and delicious. As a solo traveler from Korea, I felt so welcomed by the kind staff. This place will be my first stop the next time I’m in Vienna.”

We had the very good Kalbswiener in this restaurant. Staff is all very friendly and cheerfull. We paid 65,20 for two main course and drinks.
They only accept cash here. The ATM is right in front of the restaurant in the round tower across the street.

Absolutely delightful experience! This restaurant truly stands out with its warm and welcoming atmosphere, exceptional service, and most importantly – the best apple strudel I’ve ever tasted. The dessert was perfectly baked, flavorful filling that melts in your mouth. The staff were incredibly friendly. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a cozy meal paired with outstanding service and unforgettable dessert. Can’t wait to come back!

Amazing local food at good prices. Very helpful staff, food was amazing from mixed grill, schnitzel, and beef shin stew. Hands down one of the most inexpensive local vienne food restaurants about accessible by tourists.

Superb food, wonderful ambience and delightful, welcoming owners and staff. Excellent, traditional Viennese food cooked to perfection. My wife’s father trained as a chef in Linz and she grew up in her parent’s restaurant in Alderney. The Wiazhaus Cordon Bleu conjured up fond childhood memories. Thank you very much for a special evening.

One of the best Wiener schnitzels I’ve ever had. The portion was huge, it came with potatoes and a salad with interesting garlic dressing. We also had very nice wine with it. Service was great and we didn’t wait long for our order to be ready. Since there was no availability at the “main” restaurant, we were sitting in the smaller room where they have kitchen for making pancakes and a few tables added (it has a separate entrance on the other side of the restaurant). It didn’t really bother us since we really wanted to try out their food, so that’s a good tip in case the place is full but I’d suggest to get a reservation anyway. Pro of sitting here – it smelled sooo good because of the pancakes ☺️
