This place is delicious! We found it via a FB reel so we decided to try it while hiking in East Central AR. The Swiss cheese fondue will change your life if you’re a cheese lover. The wine and ambiance are stellar. We especially enjoyed the reasonably priced Sauvignon Blanc. Hubby and 3yo LOVED the sausage feast.
The restaurant is underground and not big, you may need a reservation so call ahead. We would totally return!

Atmosphere should get 10 stars. Felt just like the many pubs and restaurants i visited in Germany! Bratwurst are so good, but the sauerkraut is the star of the Swiss Sausage Platter. Kids were thrilled they could get fries as a side with their chicken Alfredo. And hubs was very happy with a perfectly cooked medium rare steak and shrimp Lagano. Dessert was over the top with a Chocolate ganache and Black Forest Cherry Cake!!! Service was attentive but not intrusive, i.e., perfect!

A quaint restaurant with wonderful food and service. Definitely an experience worth the drive. Oh and there’s a winery, taste testing too. The beef stroganoff was one of the best I’ve had, top notch! We started with the Weinkeller Sampler
Knackwurst, Bratwurst, Smoked Sausage, and Quiche Lorraine a meal in itself.

It’s a little difficult to find this place and in some cases your Google might send you to the original address off of route 40 but that’s incorrect.
Very nice gift shop with an incredible hundred-year-old black walnut bar imported from Italy! They offer free tasting sips. This is something that on the one hand I appreciate because if you’ve gone there to buy a bottle they shouldn’t be charging you to taste. But typically free tastings are very small in a plastic cup.
This restaurant is very popular. Especially on the weekends. It’s not very big and yet it’s crowded with large groups. It’s very Swiss and very cute. I don’t know but it might be the only place there is to eat.
They’re updating and refurbishing much of their structures.
They also have 30a hookups for RV.
I don’t think they’re part of harvest host but if you’re having an event there in their event building which is very nice it would be fun to spend the weekend there if you have an RV as well.

Cute place! The drinks are fun and a great price. The chicken Alfredo was creamy but the noodles were a little too overcooked. The cheeseboard was great! The Black Forest cake was a little dry. But over all cool place with a lot of history and great service !

Today we stopped in Altus, Arkansas at the Wiederkehr Wine Cellar & Weinkeller Restaurant—a gem tucked into the Ozarks with a rich heritage. Founded by a Swiss-German family who settled in Altus in 1880, this place is steeped in history and charm. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with old-world touches that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a European countryside inn.
The food? Absolutely amazing. Every dish we’ve tried has been flavorful and comforting, with a touch of rustic elegance. It’s no wonder this has become one of our favorite road trip stops. If you’re ever passing through western Arkansas, this spot is a must-visit.

Unique, romantic dining experience with delicious food and excellent service! Try the weinkeller sampler sausage platter with quiche and the Black H. Vienna dish with German potatoes. Waiter was kind, attentive and made a fresh pot of coffee for us! A pretty drive to the restaurant. Would be beautiful for a wedding or other special events. One of new favorite restaurants! Highly reccomend for couples, families or groups.

i have pass by their signs on I40 for over , 50 years but todaymy wife wanted to try the food. After buying some wine, jelly and bread dip we had lunch. When we walked we were taken by the restaurant. Felt like we were in Switzerland. Cozy. Quite. Great aromas. Then the food came . It was wonderful. Great taste for both of us. my chicken and hollindase sauce was perfect. If you have the time to take a side trip off I-40 near Ozark AR., give it a try. The Arkansas wine country has many wineries that you may find agrees with your pallet.

Wiederkehr winery is very unique in so many ways.
When we arrived at Wiederkehr we really didn’t know what to accept. It looked like something straight out of a movie, the restaurant looks like a hobbit house carved into a mole hill, just like in the movie hobbits tale. I truly can say it had me speechless in a unique way.
The server Liz was very friendly, and cam over to assist us as soon as she noticed us. We had a few questions which she answered very politely and even made recent to us!
The grounds area around the winery is well kept, even though it’s an old rustic place!
We participate in a wine tasting of a variety of their wines. I can say the muscadine wine was my favorite. For those who don’t know it has wonderful nutty cherry aroma and a oaky taste.
It’s truly an incredible blend and one of the most unique grape wine varieties I have ever tasted.

I haven’t been here in a long time, stopped in for a late lunch. I forgot how pretty, rustic, and unique it is. If you have time, make time, this place is worth the stop. The staff was super friendly and food is amazing. Prices are great and worth every penny. The biggest call out is the beef stroganoff! I haven’t seen it or had it is years and theirs is magnificent, melt in your mouth with the wine sauce sealing the deal. I just wish I had room for dessert. I can’t wait to come again. Thank you!
