Appetizer: We decided to have simple salt edamame so we can enjoy it without getting too overwhelmed with seasoning. The chicharon was really good. It has some kind of Chinese five spice seasoning which my family loves.
Xialongbao (dumplings) were pretty good, it’s a family favorite and we always order it back in SoCal.
The original fried chicken was seasoned well. Crunchy and full of flavor. But the black meteorite had a special seasoning we like. Is it the Szechuan pepper? Probably. It had that kick I’m familar with when eating a Szechuan dish. We like the black meteorite the most I wish we have this in SoCal!
The fried rice was also delicious. It was full of flavor and they did not skimp on shrimp!
Customer service was wonderful. Very nice staff, they checked on us 2-3 times.
Will def return when I come back to CC. Highly recommend!
I don’t hand out 11/10s lightly, but Whole Fried Chicken has officially broken my rating scale and possibly rewired my brain chemistry. This place isn’t just an Asian restaurant—it’s a spiritual experience disguised as a meal, and I would like to formally apologize to every other restaurant I’ve ever loved because they’ve all been demoted.
Let’s start with the obvious: the whole fried chicken. Perfectly crispy on the outside, impossibly juicy on the inside, seasoned like someone’s grandmother was standing in the kitchen whispering ancient secrets into the oil. Every bite had that audible crunch followed by immediate silence at the table, because nobody was talking—we were busy. This chicken doesn’t ask for your attention; it demands it.
Now, I need to pause everything and talk about the crab rangoon, because this is where things got emotional. These weren’t just crab rangoons. These were golden, crispy pockets of joy that shattered on impact and melted into creamy, savory perfection. I took one bite and immediately said out loud, “wait you’re telling me a crab gooned in this rag?” and honestly? I stand by it. Whatever crab participated in this rangoon lived a full, meaningful life and achieved culinary immortality. I would order these alone, in bulk, as my last meal.
And then there’s the combo fried rice—a dish so loaded it should come with a warning label. Perfectly cooked rice, smoky and savory, packed with meats, veggies, and flavor in every single spoonful. No filler. No sad, dry grains. Every bite tasted intentional, like the chef personally cared whether or not I was happy that day. This fried rice could end arguments. It could bring families back together. It could be used as legal tender.
The portions are generous in a “we respect you as a human being” kind of way. The flavors are bold without being overwhelming. Everything tastes fresh, hot, and made with actual pride. Even the leftovers somehow tasted better the next day, which frankly feels unfair to other food.
Service? Friendly, fast, and efficient without rushing you. Atmosphere? Casual, cozy, and exactly what you want when you’re about to commit fully to a plate of fried excellence.
In conclusion: Whole Fried Chicken is the kind of place you gatekeep, but also feel morally obligated to tell everyone about. Come hungry. Leave happy. Dream about the crab rangoon later. 11/10, no notes, I will be back, probably tomorrow.
Crab rangoons and egg rolls were the best Ive had here in CC
SUPER CUTE SPOT
It was absolutely amazing . The chicken was all white meat, not dry at all. Combination Lo-mein was plentiful, with lots of meat. The staff was very nice and attentive. Please make the drive and go see them!! Keep up the great job
We wanted to order the whole fried chicken, but there were too many other delicious options.
The service was outstanding. Kudos to all.
