We ordered carry out…let’s just say after living in Lake Charles, LA for 5 years we were extremely disappointed. The crab cakes had a strong fishy flavor & smell and the lettuce wasn’t too fresh. Other than the fishy taste there wasn’t any other flavor. The chicken tenders reminded me of cracklings but bland. The greens were bland. However the okra was a 10/10. We spent about $50 overall.

I am so happy I chose Whitfield’s to celebrate my birthday. From the very start of me reserving my party it was a breeze. Once I got there and was seated, our server (I’m so sorry I forgot her name) was sooo sweet and such a joy. She constantly checked on our table, makes sure we were all taken care of and made sure our orders was correct. All of our food came out right and even with a later submission of orders we still got our food in a timely fashion. And they also sung me happy birthday with some of the staff and it was such a nice time! I loved the vibes from the music, the table decor and scenery (especially the NOLA mural that was beautiful for pictures) gave all the NOLA vibes! My family are still talking about the food and the atmosphere and how we want to come back! You have a loyal customer for life! Cheers to Whitfield’s and thank you for serving me and my family with love and passion. We couldn’t thank you enough. ❤️

Probably the best Catfish I have ever had. My wife and I have been coming here since they opened. We have been getting the chicken dinner. They cook it just right. The last time we came I got the catfish poor boy. It was great. So now I might have to get the fish for there and get the chicken and take it home for lunch the next day. Not a problem.

Greetings! Went here with family & friends the first weekend in January for my birthday. The atmosphere was minimalist and trendy. The staff was nice and accommodating (bc we needed an extra table). Fin was our server and she worked hard. We had a party of around 12. The food took a little long, but to their defense, they were short staffed. That chef was working hard bc they were busy. I had the chicken and waffles & grits. The chicken was good. I enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the grits tasted like they were made with chicken broth, which was not my taste. However, many of my guests enjoyed their food! I will definitely go again looking forward to trying something different. I want to support them as Christian and Black owners! I am praying for their success!! ✝️

I found this soul food kitchen completely by accident while searching for something good, and it turned out to be one of those rare, unexpected gems. From the first bite, it was clear this food is made with real care and attention to flavor.

I’m from the South, and my dad was a true New Orleans man raised in Metairie, right outside of New Orleans, so I don’t say this lightly. This food tastes authentic. Everything was clearly made from scratch, and the flavors are spot-on to true New Orleans–style cooking.

I ordered the catfish nuggets with the zesty Creole dipping sauce, and the cornmeal-style batter on the fish was incredible. It was perfectly seasoned, crisp, and full of flavor without being greasy. The fish itself was tender and cooked just right, and that Creole sauce added the perfect kick without overpowering anything.

The fried okra honestly impressed me. It was seasoned perfectly and, even after the ride back to work sitting in the box, it was still crunchy with no sogginess at all.

The dirty rice was truly chef’s kiss, so good and packed with flavor. I couldn’t stop eating it. The greens didn’t last long either. I ate those first and the fastest. They were perfectly seasoned, tender, and comforting in the best way. I also had red beans and rice, which were rich, hearty, and exactly what you hope for.

Everything traveled well and still tasted amazing by the time I sat down to eat. This food made my heart genuinely happy. Real, comforting soul food made from scratch and done right. If you’re looking for authentic New Orleans flavors, this place absolutely delivers. I’ll be back without hesitation.

Whitfield’s is the place to go, Don’t question it just go!!! The food is scrumptious!!!

When I say the food I mean everything I have had is amazing and I mean everything! Gumbo green fried Okra, the corn is my absolute favorite with the greens and the dirty rice oh and the Crab Cakes and them crab cakes are a craving.

I don’t just eat anywhere the place has to be clean, it has to have a vibe and it has to be family friendly. I could go on and on about the this place.

I have ordered dine in take out and delivery!!!! The Chef Deonte doing his thang in the kitchen!!! My waiter Diamond is full of life and he makes you smile before you even walk in the door. The whole staff is warm and welcoming, ok I quit!!! I’m just a girl who loves Great food!!!

Absolutely top tier food. Every dish I’ve tried from crab cakes to salmon bites, seasoned to perfection and tastes like it was made with love. You can tell the recipes are authentic and intentional, not basic. This is comfort food done right. I’ll be back again and again.

Had greens gumbo, supposed to have andouille sausage, shrimp, and okra. I had probably 3 little sausages, and absolutely no shrimp! Just a container of greens.
Very disappointing!
But my children had the fried chicken dinner that came with 3 chicken wings, no breast, but they said it was very tasty!
I love to support black owned businesses, so I will patronize again, just won’t get greens gumbo.

Had the traditional Gumbo, fried Okra and Cajun fries. Gumbo tasted amazing, nice portions of andouille, I do think the rice portion was a little small but still filling. Fried Okra and Cajun fries seasoned perfectly. Will be coming back .

We were excited to patronize this black-owned business; only to be immediately disappointed. We waited after placing our order. Two catfish dinners – one with fries & dirty rice. The other with red beans/rice & corn. Drove home to discover that I had no dirty rice. The lady that took our order, clearly repeated our order back to us correctly. However, when I called, a person who said they were the manager; stated that the ticket said it was for a double fry. First of all, it wasn’t enough fries to be considered a “double order.” Besides that, the fries were dark & soggy; and had absolutely no seasoning. The fish wasn’t crispy as we had ordered it. Although it had a good taste, it was soft and soggy as well. I was offered to come back to get the dirty rice. But, decided it was more of an inconvenience for me to drive 30 minutes back there in the snowy weather to pick-up a single order of dirty rice. Anyhow, they refunded my card $6.99. Needless to say, this will be my first and last visit. Save yourself a trip. Un-tie your bag and check your order before leaving to make sure it’s correct.
