Just happened to be in Salem, my dentist raved about this place. The portions for the Big Mess are huge! I think 3 people could share. Mine was a half a mess and the gravy was so creamy and light-& I don’t usually like it, hence I got a side of it! Great, friendly staff! Been there since 1936!!

The waitresses know most people that go there and are always prompt and friendly…highly recommend for good quality and service.

We were warmly welcomed by Tiffany and sat in a booth. It was a pretty busy little place and the team was working hard to accommodate everyone. We came at the end of the rush so there was a table available right away and we got drinks and water quickly. I had the Belgian waffle (solo light meal) it also comes in a breakfast with eggs and meat if you choose and my daughter had the burger (she likes it plain) and fries. Everything was delicious and it was a nice chill diner to catch up. The decor and booth seats are pretty worn and could definitely use some updating but the regulars definitely seemed to be at home scoffing down their meatloaves and sandwiches with glee reguardless. Tiffany was excellent, super friendly and kept up with refills and checking in just the right amount. Thank you so much.

Just had breakfast here and it was really good. My partner had the veggie omelette and I ordered the waffle breakfast; both were delicious and exactly what we were hoping for. He told me to mention that he liked that there was a lot of olives in it and the cheese was at least a medium cheddar which gave it a better flavor.
The servers were incredibly friendly and clearly worked together as a team, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming instead of rushed.
We’ll definitely be back and would absolutely recommend this spot for breakfast or brunch.

White’s Restaurant is an absolute gem in Salem. 90 years in the community and when you enter you feel like you’ve stepped to the days of yesteryear.
You get an immediate feel of history when the world was a better place. A time when people greeted and talked to each other (that happens here), a place where customer service is priority and the employees take pride in that.
Quality food paired with GREAT customer service and very fair prices. Hard to find establishments like this in today’s world and that’s what keep their customers coming back.
White’s Restaurant is a fun little piece of Salem history and their future looks as rich as it’s history. My wife and I took our 8 year old granddaughter not long ago and she noticed it was “different” other places we frequent. Our waitress was very friendly, prompt and kept our coffee hot. We had a great conversation with TWO of the waitresses and it showed they care about their job by their customer service and performance. Do yourself a favor, take a trip back in time and enjoy this little hot spot.

Food was great. Prices were reasonable. Service was great. Like most good diners that have good food and service at a reasonable price, the decor is older and worn but clean and its not as quiet as I would prefer. I would definitely come back.

We tried Whites for the first time on Valentine’s Day and we were blown away by how kind our server was and how fast their service was. It was absolutely packed and we were still in and out in less than an hour. Food was fantastic and we loved reading up on the restaurant’s 90 year history in Salem. Absolutely will be back!

Been coming here since about 2002 because it is always a solid meal with great friendly service at reasonable prices.
I live in Hillsboro so I don’t get to come here as often as I’d like, but any excuse to drive to Salem and White’s is on my breakfast list.

We stopped in for breakfast while in town with my brother-in-law and had the pleasure of being served by Krista. She was warm, hilarious, and incredibly personable from the start. She checked in at just the right times, made great suggestions, and made us feel like regulars even though we were just visiting. Service like that makes such a difference. Thank you, Krista, for starting our day off right!

It’s an absolute gem in Salem! I ordered the awesome omelet, and omg, it’s absolutely delicious. My sister ordered Dons big mess. We obviously couldn’t finish it. So we packed it to go. Also, the service was great, too. The waitress is so nice and friendly. Would definitely come back here again.
