White Star is a casual neighborhood American restaurant and craft cocktail bar in Jersey City. We pride ourselves on serving Jersey City’s Best burger. We use prime meat from Pat LaFrieda, bread from Balthazar, and the freshest locally-sourced vegetables to craft a familiar selection of lunch, dinner and weekend brunch dishes.
Hearty burgers, sandwiches & other comfort food in a relaxed eatery that has cocktails, wine & beer.

Service is great and the ambiance is nice, however the FOOD IS BLAND. We got the buffalo chicken sandwich and the burger.. both were tasteless. I did not eat my burger and the manager removed it from the bill so that is why I give this place 3 stars rather than 2. They also still have Oktoberfest as their rotational beer (it’s January).

Thoroughly impressed with White Star Warren St! Decor is super cozy and love all the greenery through the restaurant. Menu is expansive with a ton of great variety. Love that they had several mocktail options as well.
Now for the food: YUM. We got the pretzels+queso, spicy vodka rigatoni with breaded chicken+burrata, and one of the current burger specials (Gouda, pickles, peppers, secret sauce) but with turkey burger and truffle fries. Every single thing was high quality and delicious.
Overall, SO glad we stumbled up on this spot. Will definitely be back to try more of the craft burger menu!

My team hosted a holiday party at this location and had a fantastic experience! The manager, Melissa, was communicative and patient when we had to adjust our plans and had questions about logistics. Our server, Colleen, was upbeat and attentive to our group of 25, and even suggested another game for us to play when we finished our white elephant exchange. We couldn’t have hoped for better service or a better setting (our own room upstairs with a dedicated server). I’d highly recommend White Star for hosting a party, the staff a great partners to work with!

Nice sitting out for a brunch today. Comfy seating. The buffalo wings tasted excellent. The Egg Benedict was just okay. The parched eggs cooked beautifully but the ham was way over dry and the biscuit was old. The home fries was cold. The salad though was very fresh. Overall, a fair place to have brunch.

We went for breakfast twice. Good food. A little pricey. Good service. They have lunch and dinner as well.

Best burger in Jersey City! The bartenders and servers are friendly and create an interesting roster of cocktails. The roasted half chicken is amazing (be warned though, it takes 30 mins to prepare, so order an app). They’re always great about working with a few weird food restrictions that I have. A great place to catch the game or have a dinner out with friends where everyone gets something they enjoy. A go-to in Paulus Hook.

The food is good, but the service is not. They have a bunch of gluten free offerings but nothing is marked on the menu so it was annoying to have to ask about every dish to find out what was GF and what had hidden gluten in it (like the smash potatoes and the fries). Then when asking the server they had no idea so they had to go to the kitchen several times to ask. I doubt I’ll come back because the food wasn’t worth the trouble.

I can’t believe I’ve lived here for 6 years and never visited this place before. First of all, I loved the service. The waiter was really nice and took great care of us. The outdoor dining experience was great, and I think the indoor area looks pretty nice too.
I was warned that the wait for the roast chicken would be 30 minutes, but I still wanted to try it out—and it was totally worth it. The skin was super crispy, and the meat wasn’t dry at all. All the veggies underneath were super tasty together with the chicken. The gravy/sauce complemented the chicken and roasted potatoes perfectly. My partner had the Philly cheesesteak, and it wasn’t bad at all.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about the burgers, and I will definitely come back to try them.
