Went with my son for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Let’s be clear this is your typical small town diner, eatery, or whatever you want to call it. It’s old and outdated but serves up some good food. Anyway. We got seated right away and drinks super fast along with our order being taken. I got the Reuben sandwich which came with soap and fries. The soup was a vegetable soup and was pretty good I must say. Nothing special but good. Now for the Reuben. The sandwich was delicious. I would have liked a bit more meat but for the money couldn’t complain. The meat was tender and flavorful. Sauerkraut was good. Not too tart and had some flavor to it. Bread was delicious. Fries were done perfectly and were nice and crispy. Now the coleslaw I ordered on the side. That was pretty gross I must say. The slaw was so sweet i couldn’t even eat it. I took 2 bites and that’s it. Also didn’t seem to have any salt or pepper in it or carrots either. Was very plain and way over sweetened. I’ll definitely go back just to try a few more items and see how it is. Staff was all super friendly and attentive.

*Very Highly Recommend* *#1 Best Restaurant in the Area* *Food was Fresh Delicious and Hot* *The Staff We’re absolutely Outstanding with their Friendliness* *This Business truly is a Gem * *The Whistle Stop Cafe Truly Appreciates Their Customers*
The moment we walked into the door we felt welcomed & relaxed with the warm comforting atmosphere & the hostess was super kind with our seating preference!
Our server & the cooks were amazing and paid close attention to detail!
It didn’t stop there a couple other different servers stopped by our table and gave our children gifts from the breakfast with Santa they had the day prior.
We will definitely be returning to this location again in the future as it’s literally the best Restaurant in the the area hands down!

Whistle stop is adorable! Very cute and cozy. I ordered a BLT. Extra bacon& extra tomato. No mayo, sub for some butter. Server suggested potato salad. Came out with mayo first time but second one was served quickly.
It was just….okay ish. There was almost no lettuce. Bread wasn’t toasted well. Potato salad after salt and pepper added was bland. Soup came out after my sandwich, it was just ok as well. But in the past I have had really flavorful soups here. Tiny portion or new cups, but I guess it’s expected.
Our server was very kind and polite & did check on us 🙂

Stopped at Whistle Stop Cafe while traveling — such a friendly and welcoming spot! The food is delicious, and the biscuits and gravy are a must-try. Definitely worth the stop!

I love biscuits and gravy. I tried theirs and there wasn’t much meat in the gravy but that wasn’t really the problem. I’ve made and had sausage gravy many times and have never seen it like that. Most gravy you can pour over gravy onto biscuits which is normal. This is like they plopped it out with a spoon, it was jiggly almost like jello but not as severe. I’m disappointed because I’m new to town and was hoping to make this my new breakfast spot! The waitresses were very friendly though!!!

Nice waitress in a diner environment but they could definitely inprove by updating the decor. The food was the real letdown. The California chicken sandwich was good – not dry at all. But the chicken and rice soup was not good. And the omelet was very bland. It had no taste in a three cheese omelet.

Homey small-town restaurant just a mile off I-55, with excellent service and delicious food. It’s easy to see why they have so many obvious regulars. We were just passing through, but the staff was clearly on first-name basis with most of the patrons there while we were. Extensive menu, including breakfast all day. I had a half Reuben off the Senior menu. It was piled high with melt-in-my-mouth house-made corned beef, plus fries on the side. Hubby had the roast beef wrap, with a side of creamy coleslaw, and raved about it the rest of the day. We will definitely stop back the next time we travel I-55 to the Chicago area.

Best omelet I’ve had in a long time. I’ve tried many restaurants, and most are alright but this was by far the fluffiest omelet yet, also plenty of meat and. cheese. The waitresses are friendly, nice people. The model train rimning above the dining area is a very nice touch by people who love people.
Needless to say, I will be back.
