First time having food from Whistle Stop – a friend brought food home. Polar Express pancakes topped with whipped cream + cinnamon apples with delicious potato latkes and bacon; chicken and waffles with a hot honey sauce; tuna on ciabatta. This travelled well for take out and I can’t want to visit and try more.

Very popular Birmingham spot for breakfast or brunch. Went on a late Sunday morning – you’re probably going to have wait on a table. Not a huge dining area, but always packed. Service was quick, attentive. The food is good, better than average and just the right portions. Wound up taking some home. Sizeable menu, you should be able to find something to please your palette. Dress is casual. Again, it’s a very popular place.

Really cute and neat place, Very kid friendly, almost all the tables around us had families with kids. Menu felt focussed on different types of benedicts, but all the items ordered were great and totally worth the price. Only downside: Didn’t love the coffee and it was an additinal charge.
Great option for breakfast/brunch in the area and will most definitely be stopping by again! LOVED the chicken & waffles

I visited the restaurant three days in a row with different family members. I had the same meal each day and sadly, each day my food was different.
Day 1 – sausage gravy & biscuits, blueberry lemon pancakes, omelette with Parmesan grits. The food was hot and delicious. We each had one cocktail Irish coffee and Bloody Mary, both were great. Total- $$$
Day 2 – sausage gravy & biscuits, avocado burger and fries. Today the food was ok. My brother said the burger didn’t come together the way he expected. My food was barely warm this time. We both had a Bloody Mary which was just ok today also. Due to a matter that was resolved by the owner, our food was complimentary. I did offer to pay for the meal but the owner insisted for the inconvenience that she’d take care of it. She is a very beautiful lady and kind.
Day 3 – sausage gravy & biscuits, lobster omelette, half order buttermilk pancakes, hangover breakfast. My food again was barely warm. I swear the first day my biscuits and gravy had smoke coming from them. My son didn’t enjoy the hangover meal, citing it was flavorless. My daughter was pleased with her omelette and pancakes. Today’s total was about $12 less than day 1.
Overall, it is a nice place and like other reviewers, a little bit pricey. The credit card fee was not disclosed on either visit. I only noticed when the payment receipt was different from the bill that’s given to you at the table. Once you pay, you do not get the original bill back. You also do not get a copy of the credit card receipt.

Whistle Stop will always be our favorite breakfast spot. This place is full of wonderful people and not to mention wonderful food. Their mornings are sometimes busy and there may be a small wait to sit depending on the time of day, but I promise it’s worth it since order turn around times are very very fast. Between myself and my fiance we split a half order of the fusion french toast and an order of the western omelet which between us still leaves leftovers. Again, we love the food and staff and will always recommend this location to anyone.

Really nice place for breakfast. Very modern an clean. Service was great. Food was good, came out very quickly but wasn’t hot just warm… drinks were worth it. Everything everywhere is expensive , so prices matches the atmosphere. Very much Worth it. Definitely wouldn’t come again

We had brunch here before going back home to AZ. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. The place is not very big but comfortable. I had the bacon and avocado burger.. highly recommend! Our server was great. She told us about the specials, explained the menu and gave us some insight on what the locals love to order. Although we are from out of town, they treated us very well. The menu has a ton of options too… so if you’re with people who want a variety.. this is the place. If we are ever back in Birmingham, then we will be back.
