Whiskey & Ramen in Anchorage is easily one of the best ramen spots you’ll find, outside of Japan!!

Chef Mike makes an incredible broth with serious depth and richness. I ordered the Dark Horse ramen, and it was outstanding — perfect if you like bold, flavorful ramen.

I started with the Scotch tamago egg, which was cooked perfectly – great way to start the meal! The bar is just as impressive — Corey makes fantastic drinks and helped me try a unique Nest beer from Japan that hasn’t been brewed in over 50 years!

Great ramen, great drinks, and a great crew Whiskey & Ramen is a must-visit in Anchorage – you can’t go out to eat in Alaska without visiting this restaurant!

10/10 – really delicious food ! we enjoyed allll of it.
Pictured – Front “Dark Horse” Ramen and back “Business Lounge”. Appetizer “Takoyaki” Octopus Dumplings.
Takoyaki was a unique and interesting taste, a teeny bit fishy but as someone who doesn’t like fishy it was still very good. It was also dancing!!
Business Lounge was my favorite ramen even though it wasn’t my order haha.

Would come again !
Great place.
Sat at bar and had good and quick service.

I had to try this place. It is very popular. If you have eaten Ramen in Japan then the ramen here will be what you remember except you pay twice the price. I had the “ Dark Horse ramen” it was good and average size. It was not very spicy as advertised on the menu. All in all the place is good and has a good vibe. Would I wait for a table , No. Upstairs the have a very large bar that was great to eat and have drinks , but the service was slow.

A little slice of Portland. Yup….there is mos-def an “heir ala hipster” to this place. Not sure I can put my finger on exactly what…but its there. AND THATS NOT A BAD THING…Not in this case anyway.

Food:
Portions were better than average. My app (Whiskey pork buns) were by far the best thing I had. Definitely a “fusion” dish, offering a rollercoaster for your taste buds. And I’m not talking the rollercoaster at the state fair…I’m talking 6 flags legit. I am in no way a connoisseur of Ramen, but I am a larger mammal, and that says something about my expertise…So…It was good. I had the “Business Lounge” ramen. The broth was highlight of the dish. It was thick and not just a watery ramen bath. It had great mouth feel, like a buttery well aged bourbon. It coated the tongue with a salty cream like soiree’, with hints of spice and basil. Boom…satiated. Desert was Kaladi cold brew coffee and some kind of sesame and peanut snickers bar cake…The “Goma Silk Bar”… Ginger, Sesame and Peanuts were not a combo I would have expected…But while it didn’t disappoint…I wasn’t blown away. And to wrap up…Overall, while I wasn’t blown away…I was quite pleased in totality with the food. Pork Bun app for the win for sure though.

Service:
We had a reservation, but waited a good 20 minutes regardless…That rubbed me the wrong way, but good for them for being that busy on a Monday. Once we were sat, service was pretty quick. Waters were refilled promptly and no one went dry once (for me this is the biggest indicator of “good service”) A+. I didn’t have to wait for my drinks or app, and our server was well versed on the menu. The Entree’s took a bit longer than I liked, but the company was good so I didn’t mind…hell, maybe they took that into account because they are obviously pro’s at their craft all around.

Ambiance:
Maybe this was the biggest influencer on the Portlandia effect…Industrial high ceilings, warm Pacific NW wood tones….”Industrial Sheik” perhaps. Spite the cavernous warehose vibe, the music was appropriately volumed, and talking was relatively easy.

Price:
After three beers, apps, entree, desert and coffee…The bill was Just under $80. I feel like this is a fine/semi-fine dining win. I’ve paid more at Applebee’s. So 4 outta 4 for price.

My son had tried whisking Ramen on a work trip and recommended it when we visited Anchorage. We made a reservation thankfully because the line was extremely long when we checked in it moved fairly quickly. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was superb. Our weight staff was excellent and very attentive. You need to check in upon arrival and those that had a reservation were taken to a table those who did not were given away time over an hour very nice establishment beautiful decor cocktails were very good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re visiting Anchorage.

First of all if you have the opportunity to seat at the bar, just ask for Taylor, you won’t regret it. She made the whole experience better, she was sweet, and had full knowledge about the dishes and drinks. Besides the incredible service we had incredible food. One of the best places me and my family ever been to. The pork buns are THE BEST. Just go for it and I promise you won’t regret.

Pork bao was very good, steak tartare my son loved. I tried it for the first time ever and its not for me. The vegetarian ramen was outstanding, loved every bit of it. Dessert was funk but delicious. Service was great, would definitely return.

Went here for my birthday and got adventurous with our order—no disappointments here! If you’re a connoisseur of spirits, the selection is VAST. I went with the more subtle whiskey myself, but my friends cocktails intrigued me. I’ll be returning soon; highly recommend!

Had a wonderful experience here. We got the takoyaki (tasted incredible!), business lounge and sugamo star ramen which were both really nice.
We also got the flowers of edo cocktail, that we were not a fan of.

Overall still, wonderful experience!
