If you like a friendly local hometown bar where it feels like everyone knows each other Whiskey River Grill is for you.
We enjoyed the food and the menu had some nice options. Everything was reasonably priced.
Mike the bartender and Jessica were the highlight of the bar.
Unlike many small hometown bars I’ve been to I was able to get a delicious mixed drink and felt welcomed.
We aren’t locals, just here for weekend trip but we will definitely try to make it back.

This is one of the friendliest places I’ve been. We racked up quite a bar tab and the owner is such a nice guy he said he felt bad for me paying that much. Needless to say we tipped well.

Food was not great, I order steak and baked potato. Wife had boneless buffalo wings she wasn’t crazy about them and she eats a good but of wings. Staff was excellent. Wasn’t busy so maybe it was a off night. Was my first time there think it was my last time also.

Hannah was a great bartender/server! A bit off the beaten path but worth the visit. Everyone was very friendly and the Delmonico steak was delicious and large enough for my husband and me to share. We will definitely return if we’re in the area.

Edit: 2/16/2026 – Ate here on our most recent trip to the area and unfortunately a member of our party came down with pretty dire food poisoning from either the chicken or mushrooms, or possible cross contamination in the kitchen. It was late when we came in and we were the only ones in the place so thinking the cooking was rushed since they weren’t busy/didn’t want to cook. Hopefully an outlier, but it was a very bad situation.
We were staying at a nearby campground and decided to go here based on it being close by and not much of a drive. Glad we made the decision! Employees are super courteous and went out of their way to provide excellent service, atmosphere was great(we had kids with us and had nothing to worry about even though this is considered a bar) and the place is pretty cozy. Loved it so much we went back the next night! If you’re a WVU fan/alum you’ll feel right at home. Will certainly go back when I’m in the area again!

Love this place. The food was amaaazing. I was in Elkins for a festival and visited this place both nights I was here. The pool table was beautiful and the owners were cool as hell.

NOT IMPRESSED! It was very loud, lots of college aged kids there and poor service but, the food was pretty good. We weren’t even greeted when we walked in and the server walked by us twice and still didn’t make contact. Then, we had to notify the bartender that we hadn’t been waited on for like 20 minutes and, even tho, the server walked by twice; she acted like she didn’t know we was there.

Whiskey River Grill was great! Staff was super friendly and suggested lots of places to go for sightseeing. Food was really good and crab cakes are made by a Marylander so order them. They have some local beer that was really good as well. We would go back again.
