Fantastic addition to downtown. The food is original and very well done. I would have no issue taking clients or family from out of town to a place like this. The staff is very pleasant, the atmosphere is very nice, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the food quality. A must try for anyone living in Starkville.

We had brisket sandwiches and fries for lunch and it was delicious. Service was very friendly and when they accidentally brought our food to another table, they remade it for us quickly. Brisket was tender and flavorful. Would definitely come again.

Went after Missouri game. Place wasn’t busy at all. Our table ordered grilled catfish, pork chop and gumbo. Grilled catfish was delicious- perfectly cooked & sides were equally good.
Gumbo had very little meat in it and one persons was was saltier than the others.
Pork chop was good, but white bean cassoulet was nothing special. Server was sweet and kept drinks filled, but didn’t know that cup of gumbo should be brought out before the main.

Thank you, Shelby, for your recommendation of this excellent place to eat! Gillian is an awesome server. The food is so so so flavourful and rich. Great atmosphere (music and TV) and style/decor. We tried many apps and sides in addition to the mains as I am continually spoiled with Southern/Mississippi cooking, and want to try everything. I will be back many times. You will thouroughly enjoy all that you order here at Whiskey Ranch! Thank you!

My fiancée and I visited this Whiskey River this evening. She saw it online and we decided to give it a shot. If you’re expecting a standard grill and bar, you will be surprised for many reasons. When I saw the menu prices, I was astonished. $24 for catfish? Absurd.
That was, until we received our food. It is VERY good food. I got the blackened catfish – sublime. I don’t usually like grits, but I liked these grits. My fiancée got the Alfredo. It was also sublime. Whiskey River is one week old and it already has some of the best food in the area. Expect to pay a little more, but the food is entirely worth it. At the moment the “bar” portion is a little light, but I’m sure they’ll fill the “Whiskey” portion of their name out.

Stopped by this bar and grill around 2:45 PM, not realizing they closed at 3 PM. I asked if the bar was open, and they said yes, so I went ahead and sat down. Unfortunately, after that, no one communicated that they were actually closing soon, and I received no service at all. I waited for about 15 minutes with no acknowledgment while the staff was clearly focused on closing up. It would have made a big difference if someone had let me know they were wrapping up instead of leaving me there waiting. Very disappointing experience due to the lack of communication and customer care.

Felt very ignored and waited awhile and no one came to our table to take our drink order. Ended up walking out because no one made eye contact and staff were all in the back behind the counter chatting. Expected a better experience.

Decided to stop here while we waited for table at The Guest Room and it was fantastic! We will definitely be back soon! The charcuterie board is one of the best in town.
