It was my second and I ordered the
Charcuterie board. It seemed like they had gone to Safeway and got a snack box and put it on the board. I requested a Diet Coke and they brought me a coke can and pour it in front of me. I felt like I was at a Chinese restaurant. I should’ve brought my own Coke can.
If you claim to have high standards and Quality food this isn’t the way.

We’ve been here several times recently. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect…. BUT

They broke one of the most cardinal rules when it comes to dining at a restaurant. All the meals should arrive at or near the same time. We had to wait 8 minutes between the delivery of the first two meals and the second two meals at our table. Given the $49 Tenderloin price, a dinner party should not have to wait that long for half of their meals to be served while the first half gets cold. Oh and they completely forgot to ever make and serve our appetizers.

We went again a few nights later, and our meals were good and we had no issues. However, the table next to us had “refrigerator-cold” french fries and the other person at that table had burnt toast. This time, the restaurant was mostly empty. Issues with timing and quality should not exist at a restaurant with this price point. And when they do have issues like this, management should step in and make things right. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them is key.

My wife and I recently attended my company Christmas party at Whiskey Barrel Lounge and had a great time. The buffet included lemon chicken, steak, French fries, and rice pilaf. I tend to be picky about steak, and this one was a bit chewy for my taste. The lemon chicken was not bery flaverful, and while I didn’t try the rice pilaf, my wife mentioned it wasn’t her favorite. The French fries, though, were good and ended up being my main dinner choice.
We’ve eaten at Whiskey Barrel Lounge before and enjoyed the food, the buffet wasn’t quite the same level, but everything else more than made up for it. The service in the banquet room was excellent, and the staff in the game room was much the same way.
The game room itself was fun about 20 pinball machines and a shuffleboard table kept us entertained for a couple hours. We had a lot of fun playing and it really added to the evening.
Overall, I had to knock it down one star for the food but the service and entertainment is a solid four stars.

First stop for dinner: Such a wonderful little spot. Located below the Valley Public House. Happy hour is only 1 hour, but a great menu. Our server, Melanie, was fantastic. The food was terrific. We’ll be back. Absolutely worth a stop. Second stop for brunch: brunch wasn’t quite as wonderful as dinner. Pretty bland meals. Had the chicken and waffle ( nothing special, we’ve had much better) cluckstack ( same, gravy was bland) and seasonal cinnamon roll ( needed more cinnamon, raspberry compote was nice) Might skip brunch, but we’ll try dinner again.

This place has a great ambience and the entrees were all delicious. Drinks were made quickly and they had a good variety–not just whiskey based but something for everyone! The wait staff were also attentive and quick. Unfortunately the desserts weren’t quite as good as the rest. Overall, would come back here!

The drinks were tasty and stunning to look at. The food was great, expect to pay for it though as it’s a little pricey but worth it. The whiskey flights are a great way to find out what you enjoy. The service was super friendly and quick.

We’ve been pretty frequent diners here and have never had a bad experience until tonight. I’m really hoping it was just an off night, but the customer service was extremely disappointing.

Normally, the food comes out quickly (in fact, we’ve even commented before on how fast and consistent everything is). We got our fries and drinks shortly after ordering, but then waited about 45 minutes before our server came back to ask if we were ready for the check… before we’d even received our meals.

About 15–20 minutes later, a table that was seated after us got their food, and we got ours right after. To top it off, we were charged for drink refills which I’m not sure is new or not. But for paying almost $100 for fries, steak pasta, and a salad that took over an hour to arrive, it just wasn’t the experience we’ve come to expect from this restaurant.

Hoping this was just an off night because we’ve really enjoyed dining here in the past.

My first visit to Whiskey Barrell Lounge was an excellent experience. My server, Sabina, met me at the host stand and walked me to my table. She asked if it was my first time, and when I indicated it was, she offered to make suggestions for my drink and meal. After a brief, friendly discussion she recommended the Tokyo Old-Fashioned for my drink, Deviled Eggs as an appetizer, and Steak Frites with a small side Ceasar salad. Everything was tasty and delicious! The food was made as ordered and brought out right on time. My compliments to the chef and bartender. I like that there was a small carafe of water at my table. I opted to get Creme Brule for dessert, another excellent recommendation by Sabina.

This was a great experience. The manager, hostess, and owner all said hello to me while I was in the restaurant. This is a well run establishment, with a great atmosphere, and attentive, friendly staff. Highest recommendation to dine at Whiskey Barrell Lounge.

Newly open, and with the ups and downs of COVID, it is understandable they have a small menu at this time. Head downstairs to this restaurant inside Valley Public House. The ambiance is an A+, from the gorgeous furnishings to the back bar, even the music hits the speak easy vibe right. Our appetizer special was delicious, fried artichokes. Salad and soup was great. My steak was cooked correctly, but it did seem tough. Sadly, no wine list yet. But we were told that is coming. Friendly service. Love the owners. Recommend making a reservation. No dress code, but it’s fun to get in the spirit for this place, so why not spruce up a bit if your going out?

Had dinner here tonight. My wife had the steak frites and I had the hamburger. The menu said the meat patty was 1/3 of a pound but it wasn’t close to that. It came with lots of overpowering soft cheese that I scraped off. It was all I could taste. There was a little bacon and the thinnest piece of wilted lettuce. For $22, I expect a better burger. The steak needed a sauce – chimmichurri or peppercorn. It was good, but a bit of sauce would have made it better. They tout their fries but mine were stale. My wife got a cocktail she loved. I had a Coke which I finished, and the server took away without offering a refill. $5 Cokes should come with refills. With tip, it was a hundred dollars. There are a million places in Portland where you could get this meal and service that would be better, and come in closer to $75.
