Well, I’ve been by this place dozens, and dozens, and dozens of times but never stopped until Sunday. And, Boy, was i glad I did!!
I mean, what’s a Whirl-A-Whip?
I had no idea. Then I learned that quite maybe (at least in my mind now) that it is the precursor to the other guys “blizzard” for which are now over $5 for just a itsy-bitsy one
Here a LARGE, and I mean LARGE MALT is truly LARGE and you’ll collapse the inside of your cheeks trying to get som chocolate malt just up to the tip of your straw, its that thick (and tasty)!
So if you’re ever cruising up or down Route 4 south of Chatham, pass the others by and head to Girard for the original, the best, the WHIRL-A-WHIP!
You won’t regret it.
PS. I didn’t rate the food as I haven’t had any from here….yet!

One of our favorite stops on our Route 66 road trip. Classic 1950s spot. We got 2 regional dishes: fried pork tenderloin sandwich and a horseshoe: toast topped with meat (I chose fried pork tenderloin), fries, and creamy cheeseseating. All great, plus great ice cream too and friendly staff, fairly priced. Open seasonally with outdoor seatin.

Excellent little place off the beaten path for ice cream. Their prices were quite reasonable. They have a large number of ice cream flavors that you can choose from. Definitely worth the little detour off of 55.

Got a black raspberry waffle cone, and it was perfect! My absolute favorite flavor that not many have on the menu. I was so excited to get it! They were busy, but service was still very quick with a smile. Definitely have to stop if you are in the area!

After 15 years of living about 18 miles away, I finally got to enjoy Whirl A Whip!! I had corn nuggets and an amazing corn dog……delicious!! I didn’t have any ice-cream, but I will next time!!

This place is always busy, but they get their food out quick and warm… Probably one of the most affordable places you can eat. I’m always shocked when I place an order. I think I’m going to have a long wait and it comes out fresh and it is always right, I am just sad that they are not open on Thursdays. The ice cream is amazing and I’ve never had one bad experience there.
