I work in Hauppauge, off exit 56 on the LIE. I’ve been here almost 3 years and never stopped in Wheeler Rd Deli before. Today I ventured out to pick up lunch, not sure of what I wanted, but headed down Wheeler Rd towards 454 and this place caught my eye. I met the nicest owner who proceeded to tell me all about his wonderfully loyal staff, the deli’s awesome rewards program, and the free delivery when I said it was my first time there. We chatted as I waited for my sandwich to be made, which was probably the fastest I’ve ever had a sandwich made. I told him I work a few minutes away and he gave me some to-go menus to bring back with me to leave at the office and for our meetings. This gigantic sandwich was $12.99 which shocked me as I mentioned a local competitor is priced higher and almost always gets my order wrong. He said he’d rather people come back twice in a week for great food because it’s priced right as opposed to once a week for mediocre food and it’s overpriced. I was only able to eat half the sandwich and had the other half tonight for dinner. He also said he had another location in East Islip, but I don’t recall if it’s the same name. I think he said it’s across from St. Mary’s, but I’m not familiar with the area at all so I could be messing that up, too.
I wish I took pictures inside, but they have hot food which looked delicious, a menu board above them so you can prepick an order, and the place was very clean. I took two of their pics from Google to post here to show the outside so you don’t drive past it and the hot food with how good it looks. I am definitely going back for breakfast and to try their hot food. Oh, PS, one thing that cracked me up was when I pulled into the parking lot and when I walked out of the deli, people were sitting in their cars eating their sandwiches…like they just couldn’t wait to get where they were heading before digging in. After thoroughly enjoying my lunch (and dinner!), I can see why they couldn’t wait.

Walked in and didn’t even look at the menu. Asked the good man there what his favorite sandwich is. He suggested the #8. Trust is key when it comes to making food, so I went with it.

Overall, a good place, the ham was a bit off. They should maybe clean up the outside a little bit as well. I would go back, but there are slightly better places in the area.

New Home Inspectors Mailbox
Wow! Is all I can say. This weekend I used them to cater my mother’s celebration of life luncheon and I am so happy. All of my guests kept coming up to me and asking me where I got the food from and how delicious it was. Frank did an amazing job setting everything up for us when he got there and making sure everything was hot and fresh, please help support this small business that has taken over from someone with a bad reputation. All of their food is amazing daily!

Have to recommend the #8 with Russian dressing vs Ranch. The hero was a home run, chicken cutlets were perfectly cooked and the hero it came in was so fresh and tasty! Definitely recommend

All I can say is wow. About time hauppauge got a great deli. Found this place just driving by. I must say it was probably the best bacon, egg and cheese I had in a long time and priced right. Got to meet Frank, real humble and friendly. Looks like it’s my new go to spot for breakfast.
