Social Profile:

Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

Why It’s Great:
Freshness: Unlike many fast-food spots, the ingredients here consistently feel high-quality. The tomatoes and lettuce are hand-cut, and the beef patties are never frozen, which really makes a difference in the flavor of a classic Double Meat Whataburger.
Breakfast Wins: Their breakfast menu is arguably the best in the fast-food game. The Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit and Breakfast Taquitos (available from 11 PM to 11 AM) are local favorites for a reason.
The Condiments: No visit is complete without their Spicy Ketchup. It’s legendary for a reason and pairs perfectly with their consistently crispy, hot fries.

Im a whataburger fan, so Im so disappointed to have to write this but it needs to be said. I used to live near the Lindsay and Broadway whataburger and had very little issues. The Stapley and baseline location has been notoriously late in the drive thru. Today was a 15 minute wait for a basic order. And then…they got my order wrong. When I went back to have it redone….it was so sloppy put together, I ate just half the damn thing in frustration! I won’t be revisting this place again. So sad. Mcdonalds here is come.

PS
I usually give grace with food places. I get it…it can be hectic. But this was the final straw. This wasn’t the the 1st or 2nd or even 5th time of dissatisfied service.

I love Whata but this location is by far the worst with food prep, 3rd time with issues. Requested no bun oil on burger, got extra oil instead. Ordered Arnold Palmer (½ Tea ½ lemonade) for drink, was given all tea. And fries are routinely soft/wilty. Was excited to have a location in this area but their employees need more training.

Average at best burgers. Buns seemed stale on the two burgers we ordered and that surprised me. The cheese on the avocado burger was plastic (see photo). The bacon and cheese burger I ordered, they forgot the bacon. How do you forget bacon on your bacon burger? The banana pudding shake was worth it though. Salad was… salad.

I come here three times a month and I have found this to be a very reliable place. The employees are nice and helpful. If they get something wrong they are always willing to make it right. The food is always fresh and here u get what u come for.

What is this? The chicken was perfect but everything else was pathetic. Look at the veggies and amount of mayo. One slice of a tomatoe at In and Out FILLS my sandwich, their lettace is too much but fresh and not wilted. Not here, this is pathetic.

Standard drive-thru food. The party melt was onion HEAVY and it overpowered the flavor of the patty melt. Still good otherwise. Fries were good, drink was really big which is a plus for the standard price of the regular combo. As for service, they take a really long time to move the line of cars for a fast food restaurant.

Our food was fresh, hot, and tasty. The spicy ketchup is spicy just enough to be a zippy alternative to regular ketchup. I really loved my patty melt sandwich on that texas toast!
