Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

Went here about a week ago to get some lunch because I’ve always heard so much about Whataburger and since I was in the area I decided to give them a try and I was not disappointed, the food was very tasty, it was also very fresh too. The staff were friendly and helpful too. Will definitely be back again in the future!

I had a good experience at Whataburger. Everything was fine — the food came out as expected, the staff was friendly, and the prices are reasonable for fast food. A solid choice when you want something quick and satisfying.

I bought a shake, and the guy said sorry I’m out of pennies, and I didn’t think much of it, but looked after and..4 cents? Why couldn’t he have just given me a nickel? Why does the spare change go to the corporation and not me, the person who paid the agreed amount, who’s struggling to survive? I save change and take it to coinstar to help pay for groceries. You owe me 4 cents.

As a longtime fan of Whataburger, it pains me to write this — but this specific location continues to disappoint, and it’s clear that operational standards are not being met. I’m speaking as someone who’s worked in the restaurant industry, including as a manager, so I don’t write this lightly.

Last time I visited, I ordered a Sweet & Spicy burger without bacon and made it very clear to the cashier that I have a serious allergy. Despite this, it came with bacon, and it took over 40 minutes and repeated follow-ups to finally get a corrected order. I let it go at the time, understanding it was a bit busy.

But tonight — a weekend night when I just wanted to enjoy a good meal — I ordered a Patty Melt with extra patty and extra cheese, paid for the extras, and did not receive them. The fries were stone cold and rubbery, as if they had been sitting for a long time.

What made things worse was the staff’s attitude — lacking the basic courtesy or hospitality expected at any restaurant, let alone from a brand like Whataburger. The manager herself took my order with clear frustration, as if it was a burden to simply do her job. I tried calling the store to explain the issue — no answer.

It’s honestly frustrating and sad to see a brand I love being misrepresented so consistently at this location. I hope upper management sees this and takes action — this store is damaging the Whataburger reputation

Was told they couldn’t give me Powerade through drive through & that I would have to come in and grab it myself.

Then I order 2 gravy’s & don’t get any. Order a salad & don’t get any silverware in the bag. I understand it’s hard to work through the night and I did come in @3am but come on..

I recently revisited Whataburger, a place I used to love for its impressively sized burgers that embody the “everything is bigger in Texas” motto. Even though I could rarely finish a whole burger, just seeing it would make me happy, especially when I was in need of a hearty meal.

This time, I opted for the double cheeseburger, but it wasn’t quite the experience I remembered. The patty was disappointingly dry, lacking the juiciness that made Whataburger stand out in my memories. On the bright side, the bun was still good, and the overall combination of ingredients was decent. However, it just didn’t hit the mark in terms of the juicy burger I was craving.

Service-wise, Whataburger still excels. The staff were very helpful when I couldn’t decide between different options. Unfortunately, the drive-through was noticeably slower than other fast food places in the area. Additionally, I was disappointed to find out that they had discontinued one of my favorite items, the Swiss Mushroom Burger, about a year ago.

Overall, while Whataburger’s service remains commendable, the quality of the burger I had this time didn’t live up to my past experiences. Here’s hoping they bring back some of their old favorites and improve on the juiciness of their patties.

I don’t understand why we have to tell fast food restaurants to make our orders fresh. Everything should be made to order. I just left and there was no line, no wait. Why am I getting cold fries? Then the employees get an attitude when you ask for your food to be fresh. I’m the one that should have an attitude. I’m the one paying not them. Why would you serve someone something that you wouldn’t eat???? When employees go to lunch I’m willing to bet anything that they are making their food fresh. Why do paying customers have to ask?? Then they be slamming the window and locking it aggressively. Without the customers you wouldn’t have a business let alone a job. It’s about QUALITY NOT QUANTITY! Treat people with respect and that starts with giving us fresh food without having to ask and good customer service. If you’re having a bad day then just stay home. The economy is not what ut used to be and everything is expensive. If I’m paying $15 for a combo make my food how I want it not how u want it. That’s common sense.
