Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

I gave this place two chances, neither of which was a good idea. Had a birthday, my friend asked me where I wanted to go so I said let’s give this new place a try. He was reluctant and I should have listened. We did it anyway and I do not know what the fuss was about with the hamburgers and the supposedly delicious French fries. The hamburger was; I don’t know what it was really, other than terrible. I’ve had better hamburgers and french fries from a Play-Doh set. I said to myself well give them another shot. Next time it’s zero dark 30 just go get breakfast. Let me tell you, that was another bad idea.
I placed my order a 0613 on October 24th I departed October 24th at 0700. There was no one in the Drive-Thru because I took pictures of it and at 0629 I was told that my order would be out in a few minutes. I had already locked in because it took too long. There was myself and another gentleman in the dining area. Another gentleman pulled up and I told him he would be better off going somewhere else, he went across the lot to Starbucks. I don’t know what kind of bad tasting mystery meat they call that sausage that comes with those pancakes with the little black bitter chips on them that seemed as if they were scraped off of the bottom of a cast iron cauldron. I had a very weak plastic fork that came pre-bent as if I was going to either pick my teeth of the macerated cartilage gristle and oats they refer to as pancake sausage, orrrr it had been used to trigger the seat belt release button is someone’s emergency exit from a vehicle. I saw a dirty dining room, dirty bathroom, greasy walkway, greasy lot, litter, dirty stations. Inow I wonder what I did not see in the back of the house. There was no excuse for it. Every picture here has a problem with, but not limited to, ServeSafe, ADA, Courtesy, Customer Service, Brand Development, Brand Risk, Brand Harms. I don’t see Whataburger lasting very long. I assume they will stay in business just long enough to leave just like every other business that was in that same location. This place is garbage.
I have eaten at Whataburger in Texas and Florida. This isn’t the same at all and is truly said even considering its new with all new staff. Although I know they were training before opening, they may still have some growing pains.
It took about 20 minutes to order although there were only a few people in line and I could over heard complaints, a woman requesting to speak to a manager and many others saying they have been waiting forever. So, I ordered my usual order when visiting Texas. I had hoped to at least receive the same flavor and quality. Simply out, I did not. You can get a drink at the soda fountain area and there is no catchup or sauce or condiments. You have to wait for someone with a condiment tray to come around. No one asks you otherwise. Would be best to have them out and ready.
I got my food and fries first off, had no salt or flavor of any kind. They didn’t seem fresh, warm or flavorful at all. The burger also, had no flavor at all and was warm. I did grab spicy ketchup from the condiment guy and it was not spicy at all, tasted just like ketchup.
It didn’t seem like tables were cleaned at all and I even saw an employee sit in front of me at a table after wandering and not doing anything. Then to top it off, when you get done dining, you have to take care of your tray and trash. Trash cans are full and overflowing so it’s almost impossible with one trash can for the lobby.
I left very disappointed and discussed with two other friends and come to find out, had the same experience. So sad, I was so excited about this location opening.
The lady taking my order was polite though
Upon delivery it was also missing the fancy ketchup and ranch dipping sauce.
I was excited to try it but I’m not a fan! The staff doesn’t seem happy either.
