She left the counter for three times, without assisting and explaining about the product they have in front. Zero smile. Refused to give a free tap water to children.
Rude, unpleasant, disrespectful.
I asked for a cheese pretzel. After quite a bit of back-and-forth with the cashier to explain that, no, I don’t want a pretzel with cheese dipping sauce, I want a pretzel that actually has cheese on it, and being told that it would be at least a 10-minute wait, I decided to just get a plain pretzel. She handed it to me in a to-go bat without asking, so I had to hand the now-used bag back to her to throw out – so wasteful! I’m so used to being asked if I want salt or no salt that I didn’t even notice she hadn’t asked until I bit into the pretzel and it was completely dry and plain. No butter, no salt, nothing. I asked if I could get one with butter and salt and she just plopped the partially-eaten pretzel down on the prep station, brushed it with butter, and added some salt. I didn’t necessarily need a new pretzel, and I’m not mad that I didn’t get one, but I know from working in food service that you can’t just take partially-consumed food back into the kitchen because it’s unhygienic. Now my saliva is all over the prep station and the butter brush. So nasty. God knows who else’s spit my food might have touched if that’s how they handle things here.
Update: I try to avoid going here, but I was really craving a pretzel today. This time, the girl at the counter was on her phone, and I had to say “hello” loudly four times to get her attention. She seemed kind of pissed that she had to help me during our whole interaction, and she didn’t offer me a receipt. I guess I take back what I said before about the service not being awful.
Twice I’ve come at 7 pm to see a lock on the door and no one inside.
