We sat at the bar this past Thursday and received great, attentive service. The beers were excellent, specifically the Hefeweizen and Colorado Pale Ale. For food, the Westbound Double Cheeseburger was served warm with perfectly melted cheese, although the Mac ‘n Cheese and fries were unfortunately lukewarm. The Mac ‘n Cheese itself was extremely cheesy, but be aware that the green onion topping is very potent and adds a strong oniony flavor to the entire dish.
Regarding parking, finding a spot was easy enough, but the QR codes on the nearby signs wouldn’t scan. Having to pay to park anywhere near the restaurant, including the rear lot, is a bit of a downside. We would likely visit more often if some type of parking validation was offered, but overall, it was still a good experience and we will come back.

Listen, sometimes a fantastic service experience just makes your visit incredible. I am an ex-bartender, and I so appreciate it when it happens. It is the smallest things, but noticed and enjoyed. After a long drive back from Winter Park, we stopped by here for lunch. We sat at the bar, and Kasey (sorry if spelled wrong, and I should have asked) was our bartender. She gave us perfect service, complete with efficiency, humor, sports talk, food advice, drink advice, etc. So, hope you get her as your bartender, and on to the other stuff. I had the DDH IPA, wife had the cider and then the Sangria, and all were solid, although she liked the Sangria better. I was in a burger mood, and got the mac and cheese as a side. Wife got the Philly with the green chili as a side. One note on her side. It was a little hot for her, but awesome for me and anyone who likes hot stuff. Wife won our usual “food battle” but both dishes were solid. I added the Calabrian dressing (odd choice, I know, but I saw it on the menu for a different item) for putting on burger and in mac and cheese, and it worked well. I liked the background music, I loved the bar setup, and there was a whole rack of cool gear if you wanted to walk away with something. Plus, halfway through our visit, curious where our Sangria came from, there is a whole OTHER bar and restaurant side. The place is right on the main drag of Idaho Springs, and there is frequently something going on during the weekends. This place is also by the public parking for the town, so very convenient. Oh, and cornhole in the back! If I had to knock anything, it was that I think that the $6 add for my mac and cheese was a little steep for the serving size, but it didn’t ruin my awesome experience overall. Plus, I LOVE mac and cheese. Thank you, Kasey. You are awesome. I highly recommend this place, whether living in town, staying temporarily in the area, passing through, and see you there…

This place is an absolute must if you’re in Idaho Springs! My husband and I were in town at the Indian hot springs and popped in for dinner! He had the Bison burger with the green chile cheese fries and wow that chile was delicious! Also which is what they are known for! I had the Italian melt with fries and it was amazing, full of flavor!
I cannot forget to mention the stunning mural of Bison in the primary dining area!

What a great brewery to stop by! Inside the small town of Idaho Springs lies Westbound and Down Brewery. Great place to grab a bite and a beer.
I ordered their bison burger and had it cooked medium rare per the servers recommendation and it was so tasty! My girlfriend ordered their chili which she loved but be warned it is VERY spicy because of the included fresno peppers which are quite potent this season. If you’re a fan of spicy definitely get the chili, otherwise if spicy scares you stay away!

We had a great experience at Westbound & Down! I ordered the Glider Cider, the chicken sandwich, and a side of green chili cheese fries. The chicken sandwich was delicious and above average with a flavorful rub and house made pickles. And let me tell you, the chili cheese fries were the best thing I’ve eaten on our trip to Colorado. They had a pulled pork green chili and beer cheese. The servers were attentive and friendly; the seating was comfortable; and the drinks were good too!

We came here after a hike, it’s in a really cute town. We wanted to sit outside but the tables were all dirty so we had to wait for them to be cleaned. Our server was very nice, but took a while to order and get the bill.
The nachos we got as an app were awesome! I got a buffalo chicken sandwich which was ok – just not my favorite flavor-wise. They had a good beer list to choose from.

Came in for a bite to eat for lunch on the way down from the mountains. We were seated promptly (plenty of room) and were able to get our order placed pretty quickly.
The food came quickly and accurately.
I had a burger and it was pretty messy to eat but it was pretty good. Honestly, the patty was under seasoned and lost among the toppings. Kind of hoping the burger would stand out
My wife has a buffalo chicken sandwich and she mentioned that it was underwhelming. Not enough flavor from the buffalo sauce
I will say, the stand out item was the French fries. Those had a great crisp to them and were seasoned well.
Also, the house made ranch dressing was good too. Made my son’s chicken fingers that much more enjoyable.
I wanted to give this place 5 stars and if there was more seasoning / flavor, it would have been.

Had a great time.
The nachos were delicious. We got a side of the cauliflower too. Yum yum yum. The beer was soooo smooth. If I didn’t need to go on a hike, I would have had more.
Our server is a sweetheart. Very accommodating to all the picking things my kids asked for.
The kids enjoyed their burger and fries

What a great place! I chose the Westbound IPA, which was excellent. Service was fantastic, as were the cauliflower wings. If you’re on the west side of Denver, this spot is well worth the short drive!

This place was a great find. We stopped here after a hike with the family, including our toddler. The chicken tenders we ordered for him were really good.
The bison burger was perfect.
The fries were the best I’ve had in a long time.
The gem salad with ahi was fantastic.
The Philly cheesesteak was SO good.
Seriously enjoyed every item we ordered and will definitely be back.
