Social Profile:

The West Salem Public House continues the historical pub tradition of bringing freshly brewed coffee, local beer, as well as wine, pastries, and snack foods into a warm neighborhood meeting place. A walkable, affordable spot for the folks of Winston-Salem’s historic, downtown neighborhoods, the pub is meant to welcome both regular patrons and new visitors, and to turn strangers into neighbors. Our vision is to be a third place between work and home where you can explore new friendships and refreshments, but also feel the comfort of old favorites (people and beverages). Cheers! -The Publicans

Winston-Salem Public House is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfectly laid-back while still feeling elevated. The staff is genuinely friendly, attentive, and clearly cares about making sure everyone has a great experience.

The coffee is thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, and consistently hits the mark. Everything feels fresh and well-crafted, and the menu has something for everyone. Pair that with a solid pastry selection and you’ve got a place that’s perfect for casual dinners, meeting friends, or even a special night out.

What really sets this place apart is the overall vibe: great service, great coffee, and a space that makes you want to stay awhile. Winston-Salem Public House is easily one of my favorite spots in the area, and I’ll absolutely keep coming back. Highly recommend!

My favorite coffee shop in Winston-Salem (and trust me – I have been to them all)! The spiced brown sugar latte is the perfect balance of rich espresso and warm, subtly sweet syrup – delicious hot or iced. The staff is friendly and welcoming, whether you stop by in the morning or at night, and the atmosphere is calm and inviting – perfect for reading, studying, or simply enjoying a coffee or glass of wine. They are always happy to see our Great Pyrenees, inside or out. Parking is easy, and the outdoor seating is beautiful – especially in the fall. Truly one of the best coffee spots in town!

This little coffee shop is so nice! It used to be called say so, and was a little shining light in Winston even during Covid times. They used to have chickens and a little garden 🙂 Beautiful outdoor area to enjoy your coffee, study, chat or have Bible studies with a friend. They still make amazing coffee! With beautiful designs! They also sell hatchet coffee from Boone here, overall love to come in the morning for the coffee and outdoor experience

It had been a while since we’d been in (couple years ) but even now that we have a toddler, WSPH is a great place to hang out and get some work done. Cozy, friendly staff, great assortment of baked goods (the poptart bar was phenomenal), plenty of space, well designed, diverse menu, etc. definitely going to be a part of my local spots to hang out during the day!

The best community pub! Perfect for grabbing a coffee in the morning and reading or doing work and also a great setting for a personal or business meeting. The outside affords a great setting of privacy while getting some fresh air. Then swing by later for an alcoholic beverage or an amazing selection of non-alcoholic bevs! Perfect place for me to bring my kids where we can all be happy, bring food with you for a dinner and drinks, gather with a group or come for an adult only hang out or date night. I’ve celebrated so many wonderful events and people in this space. Truly feels like home and where I always run into people I love. Such a special place!

Nice neighborhood pub. No food served, but there was a food truck the night we visited.

Beverages include wine by the bottle + $6 corkage fees, beers – 8 drafts + bottles or cans – no corkage fees.

3 long shareable tables & 6 seats inside plus a couple more facing the window.

There is a back patio with heaters, if you want them on.

Cool vibes, friendly crowd & lots of beverage options.

Like a second living room and backyard, the WS Public House is home away from home. I love coming here on a Saturday morning to grab a coffee with my family, quality time with one of my kids or solitude in the afternoons, or a chill girls’ night out. The music, comfortable seating, lighting, drink selection, friendly staff, and variety of happenings are all second only to the community of people flowing in and out the doors at the pub.

I don’t know if there is a place that encompasses so much of what I love about Winston-Salem. On any given day of the week, you can come here for coffee, beer, or wine. But the best is when you see local business owners, friends—human and furry, sunrises and sunsets, local music, food trucks, art festivals, supper clubs, and even catered seated dinners. The versatility of this space is what draws me back here again and again.

My children love the “backyard” for watching the chickens and I love the cortados or iced coffee. Plus because of their broad opening hours, it’s a great place to meet friends for a coffee in the AM or a drink after work, have a date night, or pack a picnic dinner for the family and have a bottle of wine while the kids play. My 5yo daughter loves this place so much she had her birthday here! (Side note: they have a fantastic selection of wine by the bottle or by the glass thanks to their excellent sommelier!)
Recently, WSPH went through some changes and the new manager Jenna is doing a fantastic job with her coffee menu but also offering delicious snack options.
To conclude my love letter to WSPH, this place holds a special place in my heart and I go back weekly inspite of living 15 minutes away.
