UPDATE October 25/2025 @westenddiner absolutely AWESOME food , I had the West End Wrap which was delicious and my friend had the hot roast beef again delicious . It’s great to have an open kitchen with great staff who you can actually see cooking your meal and to have wonderful smiles and laughs with @deboorahkay . As for politics ? Well we talked about Ukraine and Israel and Palestine, as well as local issues and economic development. Great discussions and in some cases opposite opinions but also interesting points . It’s a great day .Deborah was the perfect server so polite and cheerful ,and made sure the coffee ☕️ and Pepsi was always full , the food was delicious and presented beautifully. The discussion of Ward 2 politics and me running for councillor as well as the list of people who want to finance my campaign when the time comes was absolutely fantastic. I had no idea that so many people backed me , and when I tried to pay for lunch it was my “birthday present” . A great lunch and a great meeting at West End Diner ❤️

This is a wonderful diner. It’s well loved and always busy, but yet not noisy. The service is incredible, so friendly, attentive and fun. The food is fresh, hot and so tasty. The owner is always there, walking around making sure everyone is happy. They are dedicated to making sure you enjoy yourself and your meal. A laminated card sits at every table-a note from the owner that includes her name and phone number just in case you have feedback or think there is something that could be improved. I love this place.

Had the West End Omelette. It was stuffed fill of ingredients and super cheesy. Service was pretty fast considering they were super busy. Great job!

I wanted to take my daughters out for breakfast/brunch this past Saturday and Stacked, my preferred breakfast spot for this area, had line ups out the door – so we decided on this establishment.
It is definitely a popular place. It was busy when we first arrived. We waited only briefly for a table.
Our waitress was lovely, very kind and pleasant, lots of smiles, despite being busy.
I found the menu prices high. Omlettes are $17.80, if you want one with anything in it. Club sandwhichs are $20.40. Other sandwiches/pitas and wraps are $20 +, with the exception of one. They have a West End salad for $20.80 with ham, turkey, cucumbers, tomatoes and mixed cheese. The presentation of this salad must be outstanding because that sounds blah to me. Breakfast came to over $90, which I think is bullocks, even for 3 people. (Stacked prices are better).
The establishment definitely has an old vibe esthetic….I would say it needs some TLC. I wish I took more pictures. When when we first arrived, I used the bathroom, and you walk by the kitchen and can see in. I was shocked. Scraps of food on the floor, it looked dirty, grimy. I was surprised that it was like this as patrons were eating right by this area and could see in. No one wants to see that. Even the picture I took of all the chairs by the front window. Just looked unkempt. Worn.
And here is the thing, I don’t mind a little diner, even if it’s an older one – but I expect the prices to match the experience. If it was a more upscale diner, then these prices would be more fitting. I feel like for this place, you’re average price for a plate of food should be under $15. If you have to make the portion sizes a little smaller, then .
My one daughter had poutine and it was good, and my other daughter had the bacon and eggs Benny and she liked it. My omlette was just ok re: flavor but definitely a good size.
At the table beside us there was an unruly, approx 6/7 year old child that was being coddeled. Slapping her family members and screaming out, disrupting the experience of everyone in there. The parents were trying to placate the child instead of setting some restaurant boundaries and/or leaving the restaurant briefly with said minon, until they could emotionally regulate her. I believe it was the owner that had to come over and encourage the parents to take the child outside to calm down. She was still having a tantrum outside when we left. *Obviously not the fault of the establishment.
Positives – food portions/sizes, pleasant waitress, variety on menu.
Not so great – cleanliness, food prices, decor/presentation of restaurant.

My wife and I have been eating here since moving to Ancaster 4 years ago. After trying the big name restaurants on Golf Links and being not too impressed someone suggested West End Diner. We were thrilled with everything the first time and every time since. We go several times a month, for breakfast or dinner.
The quality of the food is amazing, the menu has something for everyone and staff are always there to make adjustments if requested. The servings are ENORMOUS!! We constantly have doggie bags!! And the price is very reasonable.
The staff are always friendly and helpful and add to the dinning experience.
We’re always looking forward to our next visit.

This is one of the oldest restaurants I’ve been to in Hamilton, and it has always provided a great experience. I believe it’s a family-owned business, and I love the variety on their menu. Their breakfast options are solid, and the pork schnitzel is excellent. I’ve also tried their burgers once: the buns are good, but the patty has a different texture that I can’t quite figure out. It’s thick but doesn’t feel like 100% meat, which makes it a bit off for me. Because of that, I’d recommend going for their most popular dishes instead of the burgers. Their schnitzel, chicken strips, and lasagna (I think they have) have all been great over the years.
Overall, it’s a great local gem with quality food and a welcoming atmosphere. The only downside is that they close relatively early in the evening.

Huge menu. Very very very large portions. Prices are reasonable. Service is great. Kitchen overwhelmed with orders. Steak and three eggs are a safe and excellent choice.
Been here many times over the years. We came here as few places are open for breakfast on Saturday
