Last night, a few friends and I went to the West End Cafe! It was delicious! We had a great server, Lillian, who showed professionalism and never left a used plate on our table or left a water glass empty. Also the other server who brought our crab dip out to us was super sweet, I wish I had gotten her name as well. The food was fantastic, and it was great to see that they have GERD-friendly options for eating there. I got the salmon, Caesar salad, and sweet potato fries, which were all great! Me and my friends have decided that we’ll definitely be back again!

We eat here regularly! Everything is wonderful! The staff are great and very engaging! I got the shrimp Po Boy this time. The shrimp were fried to perfection. The pasta and potato salad was on point. Update! Went back and got the Oyster Po-boy. The oysters were fried to perfection. Another great option.

I decided to try here today. Nice place, it was busy. Went for lunch. I ordered the (2C) grilled steak on Kaiser bun with lettuce, tomato, Cheddar cheese & Mayo and a side of fries. Everything was served hot and fresh. The bread was fresh, The fries were crispy, and good. Service was friendly & good. Just a little slow but it was due to them being so busy. I also recommend the Chicken Florentine with Bacon & Fries, I’ve went back and this one is my favorite

First time here. Brought my wife here for her birthday before Duke and Wake game. Roast beef grinder lacked flavor. Meat was cooked just right and the bread was good just missing something. I got the hot dog and it was ok. Not bad. First thing through the door the host insulted my wife because she had a Duke shirt on going on to say she hated wake as well?? Service was slow but it was busy. I get it. The menu is exciting and I will definitely try again. I had better hopes for this place but I have to be honest on my review. Can’t recommend but will come back for another try.

I live in Asheboro and West End Cafe has been our first choice of places to eat many times when I have come to visit my dad in Winston. After the way we were treated this evening, THAT WILL NO LONGER BE THE CASE.
We arrived and noticed the restaurant was very busy so we stood to wait for a table. There was one couple ahead of us that looked as if they were waiting for a table as well, so we stood behind them. A few moments later we were approached by a tall man wearing glasses who seemed kind at first. He asked if we had added our name to the list because the people ahead of us were waiting for the bar. We kindly told him no and went back out to where the list was to add our name. After doing so, we stepped back into the restaurant to wait because we were the only people left on the list and figured a table should open up at any time. I am not sure exactly what his problem was, but the man who approached had sat down to roll silverware and was making angry faces at us as he threw his hands up in our direction, clearly talking about us. I quickly realized he was talking to a server who was standing next to his table and they both continued to look over at us with angry looks.
Again, I am not sure what his issue was, but behavior towards us was unacceptable. We were there an hour before closing and we did exactly as he told us and added our name to the list before QUICKLY MARKING IT OFF TO GO SOMEWHERE THAT WE FELT WELCOMED!

2/22/24 updating my previous review. I think a place that maintains its integrity through hard times & still provides service with a smile & gratitude for your business, needs to be shown gratitude right back at them. Thank you West End Cafe for being that business that still shows kindness & care. ❣️

Food is always fresh & always delicious! The service has been the same for over 20 years! Friendly, attentive, and so welcoming!

The best, most consistent restaurant in Winston-Salem.

I had the bacon cheeseburger and hubby had the fried shrimp po’ boy. Both were delicious. Buns on both were toasted. Burger was huge and cooked like I like it. Great and attentive service. Will be back! Suggest going early. It was packed with a line by 6 on a Monday!

I just learned of this place TODAY while in Winston seeing my dentist (I live in Danville, VA). My wife & I felt very comfortable & welcomed. The wait staff was attentive & the food came out fast & hot! I had the corned beef Reuben w/ fries & my wife had a turkey grinder w/ chips. BOTH sandwiches were HUGE (we could have shared if we could have agreed)! We’ll definitely be frequenting this place every time we come to Winston (which is often). Thanks for a great experience!

(Edited to add) I went back today (10/9/25) & enjoyed a Portobello Sandwich. My wife got the Reuben this time & my mom got a gyro. Everything was amazing!!! I love the vibe in this place! I’ll be back in a couple of weeks! Hahahahaha
