The food here can be really good overall. My only issue was with the plantains. When ordering, they didn’t ask for a preference on how I prefer them. I received very very soft plantains, which unfortunately I don’t eat. I called to mention it, and they said many customers prefer them soft and that they would check with the manager, but I haven’t heard back yet. It would be great if they asked customers their preference when ordering not everyone eats extremely soft plantains.

I stopped in because I’m intentionally trying to connect more with African culture. My roots trace back to Africa, even though I’ve never been there, and one of the ways I try to learn and connect is through food. When you can’t travel, food is one of the most honest ways to experience culture.

The restaurant was very clean when I arrived, and I want to specifically mention the bathroom—it was clean as well, which always stands out to me because that’s not something you see everywhere.

When I first walked in, it took a moment for staff to come to the front, but that actually gave me time to step into the restroom. When I came back out, someone was already at the counter waiting for me. She wasn’t overly expressive, but she was polite, open, and answered my questions clearly.

I let her know I’m a plant-based eater. There aren’t many plant-based options on the menu, which is pretty common, but I usually look to the sides and drinks in situations like that. They were limited on a couple of items, but I was able to order the fried potatoes and the pineapple-ginger drink.

She told me it would take about 10 minutes, and the food came out right on time. When she handed it to me, she thanked me and wished me a good day.

I tried everything in my truck afterward. The fried potatoes were excellent—light, perfectly cooked, great color, and full of flavor. They even included a side of ketchup, which paired well.

The pineapple-ginger drink really surprised me in the best way. It had a strong, fiery ginger kick balanced with a natural sweetness from the pineapple. It was exactly what I hoped for and more—easily one of my favorite drinks I’ve had in a long time.

If I had one small suggestion, it would be to consider adding one or two clearly marked plant-based or vegetable-forward options in the future. Even something simple would go a long way for people like me who want to experience the culture through food while eating plant-based.

Overall, this was a really good experience, and I’d definitely come back again—especially for that drink.

Had the Chicken Yassa, Egusi, Benachin Beef, Lamb dibi. The food was amazing and the chef was very friendly. The food is halal and portions were big as well. The lamb dibi was the best I’ve had in Senegal or abroad.

We have taken far too long to eat here. It is definitely a family style business, as can be seen in the total lack of corporate concepts, like having everything on the menu; bringing all the food out at once; making sure customers were attended on arrival.

We wanted chicken wings, which we’ve had before, but they weren’t available. We wanted the lamb, but were told 40 minutes to wait. And there’s the thing. Everything is cooked to order. And it shows.

Wife got the fried whole fish; I got the grilled chicken and sliced, fried potatoes. It’s all delicious and the serving sizes are huge. I brought most of mine home for later, and the wife ate the fish, but brought her sides home.

Come and get something really unique. African food is very rare, although East Africa restaurants are spawning, West African, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, these flavours are something to seek out.

This was my first time having some West African food. This was by far one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The food was incredible and extremely tasty! compliments to the chef! I will definitely be returning again and will without a doubt refer whomever I know to check this place out. I ate the chicken yassa it was flavorful with the benachin rice it had a little bit of a kick to it. It was great! I walked and the first thing that greeted me was this enticing aroma so I had high expectations and they did not disappoint.

This place exceeded my expectation!! Normally, I set my expectation very low when it comes to other countries’ food; that way I’m not disappointed no matter what enters my mouth, but I’m actually very impressed with WEST AFRICAN WAY!

I’ve definitely found my new go to African restaurant. The food and the customer’s experience 10/10. I got cassava leaves with rice !!

My husband and I got takeout tonight and absolutely loved the food. We tried the meat pie, plantains, yassa chicken, and dibi lamb. All of it was amazing, very flavorful, and full of spices but not extremely spicy if that is something that matters to you. This was our first experience trying west African food, and we will definitely come back. Do order earlier than you think you need to – we ordered on a Thursday night and were told 40 minutes, but it was probably closer to an hour.

My first time having African food was here and it was everything and more. It was fairly empty, clean, and chill vibes. I was greeted and treated very kindly. I didn’t know anything about the cuisine and I was explained and recommended some dishes by the worker in the front. The food came out fresh, hot, and quickly. The service was amazing, the food was great, this place deserves the love.
