WEST African Cuisine is my favorite resturant in Grand Forks. Everything we’ve ordered has been phenomenal. The chicken, plantains, fish, and goat soup have to be some of the tastiest around. Everything is flavorful, hot, and fresh. I especially love the meat pies. No matter what we are getting, those have to be on the order too. Don’t sleep on this hidden gem in Columbia Mall. If you order on Doordash they have an even more extensive menu. 10/10 recommend.

I ordered Egusi soup on the 4th of March,2026. Good thing that It arrived early and on time as stated online. Had no issues with the fufu/swallow.
However, when I opened the soup plate and tasted it, it was sandy. I thought it was a joke. To my greatest suprise after heating the soup and decided to eat everything, it was a horrible experience.. the soup was sandy and I had nothing to eat yesterday night..

My baby Sister came all the way from fargo just to try out this restaurant CASSAVA LEAF WITH RICE… She agrees with me it is amazing thank you to the owner Rhoda and her family this is the best family own restaurant in Grand Forks, North Dakota if you ask me and you missing out if you not going over there to get you a taste of that wonderful African food over there. Thank you for providing amazing food for our community over the years we appreciate you and your family and bring us an amazing taste of African by way of the WEST AFRICAN CUISINE. Great addition to Grand Forks. Food is great and the staff is friendly and helpful. The variety of food and the flavors are wonderful. You need to try it. UPDATE: the goat meat and pepper soup is a must try. Extremely favorable and a good surprise. Sadly they are the ones left in the food court. Stop by and try some good food and friendly service. UPDATE, Still amazing food and she keeps adding new things to her menu. The hot sauce is fresh and I rate it as “A+.” UPDATE: Aug 10th, food is still wonderful, lots of new goodies. The goat soup is wonderful. Tried the lentils with chicken and fish, outstanding, get it spicy you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t tried it here, stop on and make some new friends and try a new food experience.

This is the best African restaurant by far I have ever eat a delicious cassava leaf and gari Archeke in ND. Listen I can cook very well so I know good food when I see one. The food was so tasty the meat, the turkey and the chicken were so well done and tasty. I leaves like 1 hr away to grand forks from Grafton but that will not stop me from coming 2 times a week to enjoy my African meal. Their customer service is topnotch the front desk lady I don’t know if she is the owner of the restaurant or not but she is very pleasant and professional.

First, its a shame watching this beautiful mall go to waste. But this food? Oh my god its good. My wife and I had the goat soup with with rice, and the jollof rice with chicken and spices sauce. Both plates were delicious. The spicy sauce is delicious, and while it has a strong kick, it isnt just like, a painful spice, it has a great flavor and the spice wasnt too intense. I will go to this place again. 100%

Rare find in grand forks ND so it’s special to have it in this mall where Scheels also is housed. The restaurant is huge as it seems to take up a whole wing of the Columbia Mall on its own. Nicely decorated and lots of space to eat and take pics. You can have parties and weddings here. The food is Liberian and it’s cool to try new things. We tried the dessert with coconut flakes and flour and something else. Both were good. They also have corn bread. For 2 small pieces it cost $4.82 (see pics). A bit dry so you will enjoy them more with a milk like drink or water. We didn’t try the food yet but it looked good and many dishes come with fufu which is a mix of Cocoyam, cassava, and saffron and is like mashed potatoes. Try it and support your local West African small biz owners .
