I love a great surprise while traveling for work. Welik did not disappoint me last night. I sat at the bar and who I assumed was the owner suggested a prickly pear margarita and the seafood pablano dish. My meal was some of the best Mexican food I have had since my visit to El Paso. Please do yourself a favor if you live in the area and make it a weekly stop. Don’t let this place go under because of lack of advertising. This place is a gem!

We love this restaurant! We have been searching for a closer great Mexican restaurant that compares to La Cocina. Now with Welik we have found it. I have tried lots of options and fell in love with their molcajete. The sauce is so thick and delicious. All the food has great flavor and salsa is made in house. The atmosphere is really artistic and the large windows let a lot of natural light in. I got to see the owner every time we arrive so it feels very family run. Definitely give this place a try. I’m sure you won’t regret it.

The food and service were excellent. We’ve had the same favorite Mexican restaurant for 40 years, this is a local comparable fave! Glad to see this local gem full!

We came to the restaurant for a family lunch on a Saturday. The location is really lovely, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The food was delicious, with a wide and colorful variety of dishes. The service was friendly and fast. We had a great time and would definitely come again!

It’s nice to have another nice, not fast-food chain, Mexican restaurant option in Santa Clarita. It’s especially nice that they are very vegetarian-friendly! In fact there’s a whole separate vegetarian section of their menu which includes several plant-based meat options that can be used in any regular dish as well so you can have the full Mexican food dining experience!

The chips and salsa were really good!

I also love that they have a classic mole option which is vegetarian. There’s a nearby Oaxacan place that specializes in mole, but doesn’t have a classic dark mole that’s vegetarian, so fantastic that we can get that at Welik!

I had a “Create Your Own Combo” with a vegetarian mole enchilada and a Beyond Steak Street Taco. Both of these were super delicious and the memory of them still makes my tongue salivate.

They don’t have a standard liquor license but are able to serve wine and beer and have a special type of wine-based “liqueur” with a similar taste to tequila so they can use that to mix any classic Mexican cocktail you’re looking for. (Okay, full disclosure, it’s not quite as good as actual Tequila, but it can do the job, if you know what I mean.)

Our server, who also happened to be one of the owners, was super-nice and took great care of us. They put a lot of thought and detail into what they create and serve, as opposed to a restaurant that just goes through the motions. It’s well worth checking them out.

Our new favorite Mexican restaurant
Adriana and Ivan’s restaurant is a true gem in Santa Clarita. We’ve been there twice, so far. After our first visit, we said it was our new favorite. After our second visit, we confirmed it.

Their food has a traditional feel but is both plated and flavored with more nuance. Truly remarkable.

My first visit, I had a Chimichanga (not pictured). The tortilla was flaky and light, with delicious shredded chicken and topped Enchilada style. My next visit I had the Enchilada Suizas (pictured). Absolutely amazing. Again, the food is full-flavored but nuanced.. Not overpowering or heavy.

Deb had the Shrimp Enchiladas on her first visit and was so taken with them, she ordered them for our next visit as well. The sauce is light and flavorful. The shrimp prepared perfectly.

If you like Mexican food but also want something that extends the cuisine, this place is it.

Tastes and feels like authentic Mexican cuisine. We got the shrimp enchiladas and trio tacos, and they were excellent. Service was outstanding.

The bill can be paid via clover phone app which is really convenient when it gets busy.

I was staying at The Hyatt Regency-Valencia (which is in Santa Clarita) and wanted some quality California Mexican food after living in Texas the last 8 years. This place did not disappoint!! The salsa was fresh and had the heat that’s missing in many other restaurants. I ordered the appetizer tostadas as my meal and let the bartender decide the protein, shredded beef… MAN, all the flavors were there! Sooo good! They have a nice handful of desserts to choose from. My special treat was the house made bread pudding with vanilla ice cream…. I should have saved more room! *chefs kiss*

The only negative, that wasn’t a real negative; I was hoping for a strong margarita and found out they only do beer/wine. Have no fear, the bartender (Daniel) made me an amazing Cadillac Margarita with an agave wine (24%) and it was great… I had two!

Not only will I be back, I will highly recommend to anyone who listens! *** tostada photo is after I’d already started eating… it was around that time I decided this place needed a review!

Good thing we stopped here! After a long drive it was very pleasant here. Very Kind service- attentive. Atmosphere was great- very clean and comfortable. Never felt rushed. So many choices on the menu – my husband had the Tostada salad with Chili Verde. Fresh & big portion. Big selection of proteins & vegetarian choices. I opted for the carnitas nachos. Fresh crisp tortilla chips, crema. No shortage of carnitas! Will stop by again. Highly recommend!

My family and I recently visited for a family dinner and really enjoyed Welik. The atmosphere is nice, the drinks were good, and the servers were nice.
I will say that the portions on some items were rather small for the price, however I also didn’t leave feeling completely stuffed, and probably ended up eating the proper amount vs what you get at other places.
The food had so much flavor and was done well. The rice and beans with the entrees were fantastic.
I would definitely go back there again.

We ordered:
– Shredded Chicken Chimichangas & Chimichangas al Carbón with the asada. This had great portions.
– Zarapes – portion of entree was a bit small, but was good nonetheless. The 3 enchiladas sauces was maybe a bit much. Would have been fine with just one of the 3.
– Birria Plate: Good flavor. The salsa on the side with it was delicious, but spicy. The potions on this one were probably the most disappointing. The pieces of meet were tiny and could barely find the amongst all the sauce.
-Sangria: this was DELICIOUS. I would come back just for this drink!
– Sodas: they change $4.95 for soda. A little steep, in my opinion.
