My family and I are looking for a restaurant close to Ruston Way for lunch today and came across this one on Google. And I’m so glad we ate here! The food is so amazing, the person attending to our needs (he/they were so nice and attentive), and the restaurant is clean.
We ordered tacos, empanadas, quesa birria and passion fruit drink and we enjoyed all of them.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal here with my family yesterday, including a variety of freshly made juices, empanadas, arepas and other great food. After checking with the server, they have separate friers for their gluten and gluten free menu items. Almost everything on the menu is gluten-free, excluding the burgers and quesadillas. We highly recommend the empanadas which are 100% corn flour and fried to perfection. Also feel free to ask if they have any specialty empanadas available that day, because they had options off menu for guava/cheese and maduro/cheese empanadas. The guava & cheese was absolutely delicious and a great treat to end our trip to Tacoma 🙂

Omigoodness…..
Has everyone been to the newest restaurant on Pearl St in Ruston, “Welcome”? It’s AWESOME
They have naturally allergen friendly food,
Meaning it’s not something made differently (that tastes weird) to be gluten free, nut free, etc. They are recipes that just are usually made without those things to start with! So they aren’t losing anything in taste or texture. Just pure deliciousness.
The owner, Patti, is kind, happy, energetic and fun
The food was incredible
The empanadas are to die for! A choice of different fillings to choose from, hot, crispy, and cooked in a gluten free fryer!!!! I’m going to say it again, THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE FRYERS!! That’s a really big deal for people who can’t eat gluten. We wanted more of those empanadas, but they were an appetizer. So, next time!
Quesabirria was the entree for me, and my husband, La Coqueta for my friend (you should get it with the eggs!), tacos for the dairy-free friend. We are definitely becoming regulars here. They have a beautiful bar that we will be watching the Mariners game in this weekend, with a big pile of empanadas from their GF fryer. I can’t wait…Hopefully we’ll see you there! On Pearl Street, next to Macaluso’s, across the street from the Antique Sandwich Shop.
The parking lot is behind the building, off of the alley. Enter the alley next to Cole’s front door, the lot is down the alley on the right. It’s a big lot. The parking lot adjacent to the restaurant is private for the apartment building next door.

I’ve been to this location twice and I have to say it did not disappoint. Limited menu for Colombian food but what they have available is really good. We had Bandeja paisa(not in the pictures) and it was really good. Food feels fresh and the empanadas are soooo good . I will keep going to this place. Also, passion fruit juice tasted like it should.

LOVED THIS PLACE! My friend and I were looking for somewhere to go on New Year’s Day and this was one of the few places open. Neither of us had been before and both said we’ll be back. Our server Carla was amazing! So sweet and attentive and made sure to check on us throughout our visit. Everything we got was so tasty (chicken empanadas, fried plantains, grilled chicken platter and the birria tacos). Such a hidden gem! Wish I got more pics but these plantains were so tasty.

We really enjoyed our first time at this restaurant. The owners and servers are very warm and friendly and super proud of food that they serve. The Mexican food was very delicious but clearly they’ll be known for their Colombian food. I don’t know any place else in tacoma that serves Colombian food. They may be planning to offer salsa nights, which would be fun and add some much-needed nightlife to the small town in Ruston.

Welcome has become our family favorite. I was born in Colombia but was adopted and raised here in Tacoma, so having a little piece of my birth country right down the road is just amazing. And the food is the best Colombian food I’ve had since I visited Colombia many years ago. It is extra special to be able to share this with my son who absolutely LOVES the food here! He would strongly recommend the blackberry juice with milk and we’d both recommend the picada. Everything here is great and delicious and the service is top notoch. Our server Luis even takes the time to practice a little Spanish with him and I as we are still learning. Definitely check this place out, you won’t regret it

This restaurant is incredibly welcoming, you can truly feel the good vibes as soon as you walk in. Most importantly, the food is delicious! We tried the Colombian dishes and were blown away. Each bite was packed with authentic flavor that instantly brought a taste of home.
The space is also quite large, with a bar area that’s perfect for just hanging out. It’s a great spot for everyone, whether you’re coming for a meal or just to relax with a drink.
I’ll definitely be coming back.
5 stars!

We loved our meal at Welcome! We tried 4 kinds of empanadas; with the beef and vegetarian ones being our favorites. We loved the chicharron – hot, crispy & oh so delicious! Finally, we sampled 2 kinds of arepas; birria & chicken w/cheese sauce. Everything was wonderful. Our server was sweet & friendly. We’ll be back!

We hosted a group meeting at Welcome Restaurant, and honestly 10/10 experience! The service was on point from start to finish. The food? A delicious mix of American, Colombian, and Mexican flavors that kept everyone happy (and full). What really stood out was the owner personally coming out to greet each of us talk about hospitality! Felt more like a warm family gathering than a work event. Highly recommend for any group looking for good vibes and even better food!
