We got to hear Jake and Chloe Angeles perform live for over 2 hours and they were fantastic!
I wish I could give this place 5 stars. However, it’s evident that the menu—and all of their posts on facebook are completely written by ai. That kind of completely turns me away from a business. It is not hard to write a facebook caption. Be authentic, it makes you look way better as a business to people who can actually catch these things.
It began with a couple of tables seated before us. The server was learning the menu, pleasant, and tried to make our visit right. She brought us our waters and took the appetizer order.
During our wait for the appetizer we were admiring the decor- comparing it to once was restaurant and discussing the menu choices. We observed a male exit the kitchen area, wearing a long black apron and 2 black gloves. He made his way to the bathroom area. A few minutes later, he exited with one black glove on and return to kitchen (we can only speculate)
At this point we were discussing leaving but we already placed our dinner order. We watched more patrons enter, the bartender now had to come from behind the bar and assist with table service. As the bartender and the server ran around we noticed a male employee wander around the dining area exit outside return inside and go into kitchen. He exited kitchen with a plate of steaming food, figured helping deliver food. He sat down at the bar with his back to customers and proceeded to eat. We continued to observe the happenings as we hungrily waited for our appetizer. Finally, we received our appetizer, 4 small pieces of pork belly with a teaspoon of pimento cheese on it ($13.99) I didn’t like it, but my husband ate it, he said he isn’t wasting it – we ordered it!
The server made her way around asked us about the appetizer, we gave our opinion. Short time later we observed the server exit the kitchen with my dinner plate in hand(yay!!) but she stopped to speak to the man at bar who was eating.we now realized that was a person she reports too. We watch the server have a conversation with the man, rub her eyes over my plate of food and after the conversation ended – brought my dinner plate. It had a small waffle broken in half and placed over 3 small little chicken tenders drizzled with syrup.
At this point we were done. I declined my dinner plate and asked for the check. There was a delay. We got up and headed to bar, ran into the bartender running around and she directed us to the server. The server was at the counter discussing our encounter with the man sitting at the bar eating. I asked for the check, the server stated she is speaking to manager because she didnt feel it was right that we had to pay $13.99 for 4 tiny pieces of pork belly. I offered to pay for it with cash in hand. The manager remained seated, turned to us, waved his hand and said “I got it”.
We walked away in shock. We have been supporting local buuisnesses in this area for nearly 10 years. Hopefully it’s a learning curve and the incident is used to improve processes. We will give it time and possibly re visit in the future to give it a second chance. We wish you much success
Nestled in the historic town of Tazewell, the new restaurant is a delightful addition that showcases the beauty of locally sourced foods and fresh ingredients. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm ambiance and careful attention to detail in the decor, which truly sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience.
One of the standout offerings is their wings, paired perfectly with their indulgent pimento cheese fries – a combination that is simply irresistible. The fish and chips are another highlight, featuring a perfectly cooked, crunchy exterior that gives way to a savory center; it’s clearly a testament to the kitchen’s commitment to quality.
What truly excites me are the daily specials and baked goods, which are always a scrumptious surprise. Chef Rob is a culinary talent who not only crafts extraordinary dishes but also actively listens to feedback, ensuring that each plate brings a genuine taste of Appalachia to your table.
Complementing the food is an extensive cocktail menu and a well-stocked bar, offering various delightful drinks that perfectly accompany the delicious meals. The restaurant also serves as a vibrant live music venue, celebrating Bluegrass and Irish Scottish heritage that enhances the overall dining experience.
The owners have worked diligently to create a cohesive and upbeat team of servers and kitchen staff, fostering an environment that feels welcoming and energetic. While they have navigated some challenges, their resilience shines through, and I wholeheartedly encourage them to continue thriving.
This restaurant is not just a meal; it’s an experience that contributes to the revival of a historic town in Virginia. With much potential for growth, I eagerly look forward to upcoming events, including the much-anticipated Oktoberfest festival. If you’re looking for fresh, local flavors in a lively setting, this spot is not to be missed!
