Cedar Rapids folks…I’m here for work and I was lucky enough to stumble upon Wawa Caribbean Restaurant! I went last night and got the goat stew which was superb. It was so good I had to go back again and I got the ribs this time. I tell you what…their food is absolutely delicious! I got the soursop smoothie both times which was super tasty and refreshing. The meals come with beans and rice and plantains. Dip the plantains in the stew or the sauce! Bring an appetite or a friend cause portion sizes are substantial. Some of the best Caribbean food I’ve ever had.

Went to Wawa Caribbean Restaurant for lunch today. Everything was fantastic. Service was great and restaurant was clean. The food was amazing. The server noticed I had a Celiac cookbook with me and told me she can adjust meals to make gf. I had the oxtail soup with rice/beans and plantains. The oxtail was cooked to perfection, ready to come right off the bone without being over cooked and the broth was perfection. I also had a papaya smoothie with my lunch and it was delicious, not too sweet but just sweet enough. 6 visits, 6 fantastic meals. All of the food is so delicious and the portions are beyond generous. The owners are very charming and Wawa almost always comes out to ask how you’re enjoying your meal. Everything is made from scratch, even down to a special herb and tomato sauce for the rice and a funky-spicy pepper paste condiment. If you’re unsure about the menu I would HIGHLY recommend: Jerk Chicken, Oxtail stew, Goat stew (honestly I bet all of the stews are amazing), and on the weekends a fried appetizer called Malanga.

The food is delicious!!! And the service was great too. We tried the hot wings, pikilz,jerk chicken and ribs, fries, rice and peas and plantains as well as a watermelon soda and a pineapple ginger soda. Everything was soo good. We will definitely back again soon
