There was a misunderstanding about whose turn it was at a gas pump. I calmly expressed that I believed I had been waiting first. The situation escalated when the manager on duty referenced calling 911 over what was simply a minor disagreement.
As a Hispanic customer, hearing law enforcement mentioned so quickly felt deeply uncomfortable and disproportionate. Whether intentional or not, situations like this reflect the need for better conflict de-escalation and bias awareness training.
What hurt most was feeling publicly dismissed while the other customer was reassured. I later perceived laughter inside the store, which added to the sense of humiliation.
I am a daily customer and have meaningful memories tied to Wawa. That is why this was especially painful.
I hope this location invests in better training around neutral conflict management and implicit bias awareness so that no other customer leaves feeling the way I did today.
We got a soda to go. The place was packed and parking was treacherous because everyone is in a hurry and not caring about anything else but themselves and their return to the highway.
I was horrified when I got into the men’s room to find a piece of human feces on the floor in front of the hand sinks. What world is this? I actually considered taking a picture because-who would believe what we have seen?
I told the lady at the register that the men’s restroom was in need of service and she rolled her eyes and actually said, that’s not my department. Sorry. I’ll stop at ROFO from now on out.
