This spot is a hidden gem! Steve is an absolute sweetheart, and you can tell he pours his heart into every dish. Hands down the best lobster roll we’ve had on Long Island (and we’ve tried three other places before this). The lobster is genuinely fresh—tender, delicate, and perfectly done. The sandwiches are huge and packed with flavor. A definite must-try!

This review is long overdue! Wavecrave occasionally supplies every meal of our day during our stay. The atmosphere is warm, and the owner, Steve, is the heart and soul of this operation. He’s a back-to-back winner of Dan’s Best of the Best Food Truck (2024 & 2025), and won Best Lobster Roll this year (2025)! He’s one of the hardest-working and most dedicated people you’ll meet, and clearly operates with a huge heart. It’s magical how efficiently he whips up such an incredible variety of restaurant-quality meals from that compact truck!
The standard of food is consistently high, whether we’re picking up breakfast or lunch. For breakfast, our family relies on classics like the Stevie’s Sunshine and the hearty Davecrave. The kids love Paige’s Peanut Butter—we’ve honestly tried to replicate it at home in the offseason, but it never comes close to the real thing!
Lunch is equally excellent. The lobster rolls are also—without question—the BEST! The Colleen’s Philly Cheesesteak and The Wavecrave Special are always solid, dependable choices. With its variety and consistent flavor, this spot makes everyone happy—and my kids are huge fans of the items mentioned above, plus the ice cream!
Between the unforgettable food and Steve’s outstanding presence, Wavecrave is highly recommended. We are already looking forward to when he opens again next season!

Amazing oceanside food truck serving the absolute BEST Lobster Roll in Montauk! You’re actually getting whole lobster pieces on buttered brioche bun, yum, not mayo and celery fillings. He also offers great breakfast and other delicious lunch choices but here the Lobster Roll is the star. Relaxing vibe by the ocean, reasonable prices and Steve the owner is a charming character always ready to have a friendly chat. This place is a must go when in Montauk

Steve doesn’t just give you the best food in all of Montauk. He also makes you feel like you’re part of his family. He talks to you with an upbeat attitude and has very funny humor. His food is extremely well priced while being amazing. He definitely has the best lobster roll I have ever had. If you stay at wavecrest, you must go to Steve’s awesome food truck!

This is the best-kept secret in Montauk, so I will not be telling anyone about the delicious food, ocean-side location, or terrific service. And I definitely won’t mention that this is THE best place to get a lobster sandwich, an Arnold Palmer, and then eat on the beach or at one of the covered picnic tables. Breakfast or lunch – it’s all great food, but I am keeping it quiet. You’re welcome!
