Built over the water in 1910, The Waterfront Tavern is Bellingham’s original saltwater dive. No frills, no fuss — just some of the best seafood in town, cold beer, stiff drinks, and a view you can’t fake. Proudly known as Bellingham’s best dive bar, and best seafood, we keep it real with darts, good music, and a crowd that feels like family. If you’re looking for polished, keep walking. If you want history, character, and a damn good time, pull up a stool.
Fish ’n’ chips & simple seafood eats served in an enduring, comfy hangout with a pool table & darts.

Been here a few times over the past few years and have loved each visit. Staff are awesome: friendly, attentive without being too much, and graciously accommodating. Food’s fantastic – best fish and chips in the area. I prefer lemons, but their tartar sauce is phenomenal, with lots of dill deliciousness. Overall, I always look forward to coming here and am glad the folks who run this place haven’t changed – they’re great as they are.

Visited 12/10 at 2pm- The Homemade clam chowder on a rainy day is fantastic! The chef is polite, skilled, and kind. Definitely coming back when he’s here.

This is a dive bar and I love dive bars. Beer is cold, food is hot, view out the window is fantastic. Every time I am in Bellingham it is a must stop for me.

We ordered fish and chips and clam strips. Fish was cooked to perfection, unfortunately my clams were a little over cooked for my liking. They had that brunt after taste. Pool table available and some random coin games. They update their menu seasonally so you’ll have to ask if what they have on the menu is available. Heard them deny a calamari basket because it starts next week.

We wanted to visit Waterfront as an iconic spooky place. It wasn’t, but the Bayview was nice. 5 stars are for the best clam chowder ever, in my life, and I’ve had probably a hundred. Lots of fresh clam, not thick, brought to us piping hot by a native cook who said she just finished cooking it. Unbelievable! There was one server/bartender at Noon Saturday, so we had to wait and the atmosphere is very vibe – but we will be back for that chowder. Also cheap beer on tap and good specials. It’s a Cheers type place where everyone knows everyone. Oh, and the fresh cut fries were hot and tasty!

Been told this place is the one to go to for fish and chips in Bellingham, I was not disappointed, 22$ for 3 huge pieces of Cod, delicious fries, the dipping sauce blew my mind for how good it paired with the meal, I have found my new favorite place to eat, the older guy in the kitchen was very kind bringing my to go order out to me. Next time Ill be trying the drinks. This place reminds me of my home town bar Jimmy Ds. Love it

This bar use to have the best fish n chips. We would order the captains plate, very good! Recently this business has changed ownership and has a new cook. The food is now terrible!! I ordered one piece fish n chips with a bowl of clam chowder. The one piece of fish didn’t taste too bad but was the thickness and size of a half of piece of bread for $18 !!! The clam chowder tasted like watered down milk and had that consistency. It had oil floating on top and big chunks of undercooked potatoes. That was the worst chowder I have ever tasted, bad…really bad and way too expensive. Even the coleslaw was changed and not good either!
I don’t understand why they changed their food when it use to be so good.
I would have paid a couple dollars more for good food like it use to be but I won’t pay anything for terrible food or for an $18 piece of fish the size of a half of slice of regular bread! Bye bye Waterfront your food sucks!!
