Waterbean Coffee in Cornelius is everything a great local coffee shop should be. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the coffee program is clearly taken seriously, and the people make the experience exceptional. Jonny and Fulton are absolute standouts, knowledgeable, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You can tell they care deeply about both the craft and the customers, which makes every visit feel personal rather than transactional.
The Mexican pour over is the real star. It is exceptionally clean and balanced, with beautiful depth and clarity. It is one of those cups that reminds you why pour overs matter when they are done right. There are no shortcuts and no bitterness, just a thoughtful and expertly brewed coffee that lets the origin shine.
Waterbean Cornelius consistently delivers high level coffee with even higher level service. If you appreciate great beans, skilled baristas, and a place that feels rooted in its community, this spot is a must

I visited and drank a latte and a blueberry muffin and worked for quite some time. The atmosphere was great and their products tasty. I would definitely recommend this Cafe.

Long-time customer and HUGE fan of the bean, especially the OG Cornelius bean. To the person who said unkind things about a barista on their 2nd day of newness? wow. I would strongly recommend you and the hubz come on back and try again. To all the folks who want a FINE cuppa or cup of…. come on in. Introduce yourself. Ask for what you want. Be patient if the line is long. Car show on one of the Saturdays in the month. Always someone to talk to, rentable room for meetings…..it’s a vibe. also? please buy my art. 🙂

Unfortunately service has noticeably slipped in 2025. We moved to Cornelius in 2023 and came here frequently. The first few years it was lovely, with friendly and efficient staff. Some time in early 2025, staff changed and so did the mood.
Current staff are apathetic, taking your order like they’re already waiting for you to leave. No smiles, no warmth, no eye contact. It’s also SO SLOW. We used to be able to order multiple drinks and sandwiches and get everything in 10 minutes or less. Now we sit at our table for 20+ minutes waiting for just our coffee, let alone hot food. Which is such a bummer because we loved walking here to work or sit outside in the spring / summer.
The coffee is amazing but the staff attitude drags down the whole experience.

Great place to meet up with friends or get some remote work done. I’ve been here many times. They have indoor and outdoor seating options as well as a group meeting room, which is first come, first serve. Additionally, they have gluten-free food options! I love their almond milk latte.

The barista was very rude and refused to accept what I was telling her about my coffee tasting bad, and instead kept saying she would need to charge me. I definitely do not recommend. The surface was not great and the quality of the Frappuccino was terrible.
