A hidden gem! A must go to. Superb food, drinks and staff. There are vegan plates, platters, drinks and desserts. I endulged in the Hipster Burger and the Hawaiian Latte. My plus 2 had the unicorn waffle; macncheese. Honey dew Boba tea; chicken fish tacos. The portions are huge! Prices are reasonable. Cafe is clean. Love the relaxing turquoise walls and the music choice. Was a wonderful experience as we are traveling through.

Pay very, very close attention to all of the reviews (including mine) that discuss the incredibly long wait times at The Water Tree Cafe. Apparently this is how this business operates all the time, and isn’t seasonal, etc.
The cafe is small, but welcoming. There is only one employee, the owner. I learned after we arrived and had been there awhile that she clears the tables, takes the orders, and cooks all food to order. They do have a dine-in business as well as a takeout business.
As a result, some of the tables may be messy when you arrive and you may have a long wait to have her take your order and/or refill drinks.
We ended up being at the cafe for over two hours by the time everything was said and done. It took more than 90 minutes for any food to come out, and none of our drinks were refilled during that 90 minutes. Had I known that this wait times would be so long, I wouldn’t have ordered an appetizer.
The owner did not communicate how long things would take, and didn’t check in with us often. I think that our expectations could have been much better managed with upfront communication from her.
I perceived that our wait times were even longer because some takeout orders came in after we arrived and while we were there. The people who came in to order takeout in-person were served their food before we were.
We arrived at 2:00 p.m. and were told that none of the quiches were available, which I thought was odd since the cafe opens at 12 Noon.
I am vegan, so I was happy to see that there were so many options for me. I was visiting the cafe with two people who are omnivores, so it was nice that there were options that they were happy with, too.
All three of us commented that the food was delicious. The owner clearly is an excellent chef and uses good, fresh ingredients in her dishes. The food gets five stars. The slow service and lack of communication is significant enough to bring my review down to three stars.
My main constructive feedback would be that I definitely think that hiring a second person would be so useful. They could take orders, clear the tables, and make sure that drinks are topped off, leaving the owner/chef available to focus on what she does best: cook delicious food. This would allow her to turn over tables more quickly and should certainly shorten down the time it takes for food preparation.

We stopped in right as it opened, as we read that dishes are made to order and there is only one chef. She wasn’t quite ready for us even though we came a few minutes after opening. There was one server and one chef only. Chef seemed a bit frazzled and she was a bit gruff in her handling our questions. We were there because of her “vegan” options, but be forewarned…if you are truly vegan, you may not want to have any of the fried dishes, such as the nuggets, as she puts everything in the same oil. The dishes we had were pretty tasty, so I hope the service can improve. Our waitress was lovely and did a wonderful job trying to keep up with everyone, but she was only one person. Some customers left or changed their orders because food prep took so long. She did offer vegetarian/vegan options that we were comfortable eating…veggie burger, cheesy mac and cashew cheese, but we probably wouldn’t go back. The tiny place did get crowded quickly, if you go, just expect to be there a long time. It took about an hour until we got our meals.

Absolutely LOVE this place!! There is something for everyone but if you’re vegan, this is the place to go! They have TONS of plant based options! Excellent selections for carnivores as well. The kids menu also has vegan and non vegan “kid” favorites. Portions are very generous and you’ll want to order everything so plan to get “to-go” (styrofoam) boxes LOL A large variety of beverages (more than one diet choice), as well as smoothies, bubble tea, milkshakes, and more. The atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and relaxing. Staff was very friendly, remembered our prefer without writing it down, and cooked it perfectly! We will definitely be back!!

I’ve been vegan for 6 years and have had vegan food all over the country and world, this is THE WORST vegan food I have ever had. by far. like, barely edible. Boba “tea” was just almond milk w syrup, the Boba was too soft and disgustingly chewy. the “chalupa” didn’t even have cheese to hold the taco shells together and the meat is just a burger patty crumbled up. the onion rings were flavorless, cheese fries gave me a stomach ache and the mac and cheese was sooo greedy and all the cheese stuck together in one big pile. if you’re vegan PLEASE go somewhere else cus this ain’t it.

So I tried this place for the first time today and it was pretty good. The spicy aioli was delicious. Everything was pretty tasty and I look forward to trying some other items on the menu.
If I could’ve changed anything, I would ask that they cut larger pieces of onion for the onion rings. It is a very thin sliver of onion with a lot of breading. This makes them a bit greasy and hard to eat. However I think if they cut the onion a bit fatter they would be Perfect. I would also recommend using a different kind of lettuce for the pork belly Sandwich. Something that is a little more crispy and green to balance out the fluffiness from the bun and look a little more appealing. The pork belly itself was alittle overcooked but seasoned well.
The bubble tea is the best I’ve found in Myrtle beach so far. The tapioca pearls tasted fresh.
I look forward to trying some of their vegan options in the future.

This is one of the rare places that my wife and I can go to that offers vegan food for my wife and regular options for me that are both really good. My wife was impressed with the beyond meat gorditas and the vegan milkshake. I was a little disappointed in the perogies, they just didn’t have much taste. However, I’m still leaving the rating at 5 stars because of the options and the other food quality. I had the Black and Bleu burger, and it may have been the best Black and Bleu burger that I’ve ever had. The meat was good quality, and the Bleu Cheese was good quality. (I think it may have actually been Clemson Bleu Cheese) It was on a pretzel bun. Usually I don’t like pretzel buns, because they are so dense that they overpower the burger, but this was perfect. The bun was grilled and just a little doughy, and it balanced out the sandwich and the richness of the Bleu Cheese. We will definitely be back when we are in Myrtle Beach.

This place always leaves me feeling satisfied after I have a meal, whether or not I am by myself or with family and friends.
Staff are welcoming and relatively quick (especially since it is a VERY small staff) even when there are several customers. But don’t expect to be in and out super quick. This is a place you go to when you have time to sit and chat with your dining companion.
Menu has a great variety and at reasonable prices given how much food you get. If you leave here hungry, you did something wrong.
Recommended food items: Chicken n Waffle grilled cheese, Loaded Mac n Cheese, and their fried pickles.

This was such a good take on chicken pho! It had bell peppers, tomatoes, and micro greens. Definitely a warm and comforting dish.
My friend and I got milk teas (watermelon and strawberry) which were refreshing. So glad we stopped by!
